81k Mile Survivor: 1964 Cadillac Coupe DeVille
1964 was the last year for the second generation Cadillac DeVille, and it still featured Cadillac’s signature tailfins on the back, although they were a bit more subdued than in some previous models. If you are in the market for a true survivor-type Cadillac in very nicely preserved original condition, this 1964 Coupe DeVille may be a good car for you. Located in Klamath Falls, Oregon, it can be seen here on Craigslist and comes with a price tag of $27,000. Thanks go out to Matt R for the tip on this one.
The seller tells us that this Cadillac is a very original survivor, and judging from all of the photos this really does appear to be the case. Outside, the body looks to be in excellent shape and the white paint presents very well, although no word on whether or not it has ever had a respray. If the paint really is original, it’s in pretty great shape to be 55 plus years old. The interior is said to be original, and although not perfect is has obviously been well cared for over the years. The claimed mileage is 81,000 and looking at the condition of the seats, carpet, and dash this looks like it may actually be the case. The car is also loaded with options, including Comfort Control, a dial-controlled totally automatic heating and air conditionong system which was an industry first.
Under the hood, we have a 429 cubic inch V-8, a jump up from the 390 offered the previous year in the DeVille. The 429 is mated to a Turbo-Hydramatic transmission and no word on whether or not either has ever had a rebuild, although the seller does say that the car is running and driving. The engine compartment definitely looks original, and I always loved those valve covers with the Cadillac logo that General Motors used during this time period.
This car has a lot of good things going for it and looks like it is ready for the new owner to enjoy just like it is. This Caddy would be a lot of fun to drive around town and take to local car shows, and the seller says it glides down the road as it should. Also noteworthy is that the seller mentions they may be open to trades. What are your thoughts on this 1964 Cadillac Coupe DeVille? (IMO) Nothing looks worse than a nice old luxury car riding on black wall tires. IIRC, it was the mid nineties before Cadillacs started being designed to look okay with BW tires. GLWTS!! :-)
My thoughts exactly. I had a friend who had a 70 Cad and it had it’s own style of white wall. It had a white stripe with a narrower white stripe. I don’t know if that was only a Cad thing but it looked appropriate for his white Sedan DeVille. I don’t remember if 64’s had a unique white wall design but this Cad needs some white on the tires.
There should be a rule; wheel covers get white walls. Unfortunately it’s not too easy finding good ones these days..
I must be crazy…. that car doesn’t look like a stack of (270) $100 bills to start your journey in an old Caddy.
The black wiper blades are like the black tires on this Caddy: not where they should be and awful!

If I had the money……. My first car was a ‘64 Caddy very similar to this one. A Very Fast Tank. I loved that car.

The first thing to go are those tires. Cadillacs deserve whitewalls.
Billyray is right, whitewalls are getting hard to find. When I replaced the tires on my 2008 Hyundai Santa Fe, I wanted whitewalls. Not only was it almost impossible to find 18″ whitewalls, but they were double the price.
I opted for continuing blackwalls.
I just got a set of 13” white walls for a current project.Yes they are hard to locate, but if that’s what came on the car, in my opinion that’s what should go back on it. ( There’s always Coker ). As far as this car goes, l think for $27k the engine bay should be detailed as well. Rustytech
