1993 Chevrolet S-10 V6 With Only 8,800 Miles!
Though Chevrolet only produced two generations of its S-10 compact pickup truck, each generation spent a decade in production, and it always felt like there was an abundance of these trucks on the road. Of course, like most compact trucks, they were frequently used for their intended purpose, which makes a specimen like this 1993 Chevrolet S-10 V6 that’s available here on eBay pretty remarkable to see.
This S-10 is available in Brooklyn, New York with a clean title. According to a vehicle history report in the advertisement, the original owner purchased the truck in 1992, and the seller mentions that the original owner garage kept it during their entire ownership tenure. The sale also includes the original window sticker, owners manuals and booklets, dealer paperwork, two sets of keys, and a 100% complete tool kit.
Except for an aftermarket bedliner and a tonneau cover, the exterior of this truck is completely original and almost looks like it rolled off the showroom floor. Even with the subtle changes, this was the final model year where Chevrolet offered the first-generation S10, and it will be hard finding another mostly unmodified example of this particular truck.
There is a small puncture to the driver’s portion of the bench seat, but otherwise, the interior has no issues and also all original. Additionally, this truck has creature comforts such as ice-cold air conditioning, power steering, and a sliding rear window.
There’s a fuel-injected 4.3-liter V6 engine under the hood, which pairs to an automatic transmission to drive the rear wheels. As mentioned earlier, the drivetrain has a documented 8,828 miles on it, and the seller added 200 problem-free miles to the vehicle after a flush and replacement of various fluids.
At the time of publication, bidding for this truck is at $8,025, and I’m curious if the final price will surpass the $13,071 price tag shown on the truck’s window sticker. What would you do with this low-mileage survivor S-10?

These “square body” S-10’s are really hard to find, especially in this condition! The only way it could be better, would be for it to be the extended cab version; which, if I didn’t have one, I’d be all over this one! GLWTA!! :-)
Mine was identical to this, except it had the original rally wheels. Loved it and it gave many years of trouble free service until the rust got too bad. I finally sold it to someone who exported it to the Dominican Republic.
That is amazing. I had an 85′ brand new but it had the 112hp v6 that could not get out of its own way going down hill. This one should not have that with the 4.3L…
During my high school years in the mid 90s, the student parking lot was filled with S-10s and Ford Rangers for as far as the eye could see. Of course, being as I always had to be the contrarian, I had the only Dodge Dakota. Fond memories of these compact pickups from 80s and 90s.
Pizza joint I worked for in college had a fleet of these with pizza warmers on the back. Mostly ’91s. I remember the most senior guys would get one of the two V6 models. The younger guys like me got an Iron Puke 4 cylinder version. That dashboard and steering wheel bring back some memories!
Meh
My friend’s father traded his Isuzu P’up 4×4 Diesel for 4×4 GMC S-15 4.3 liter not long after the engine’s introduction. We used to tow a smallish ski-boat with the Isuzu, and putting the accelerator pedal under the floor-mat served a cruise control good for about 55 mph on I64. The 4.3 liter S-15 was like a Top-Fuel dragster by comparison. It was an extended cab model too, giving us a glimpse of a pickup future where trucks could be spacious and quick.
My friend’s surgeon-father made off with my 5-speed Audi and caused me to stand up a potential Barker-Babe, but it is still funny for me to think about most of these trucks being gone and the remainder being collectibles. I don’t consider automatic-2WD-single cab to be a particularly exciting configuration, but this truck is probably fairly capable and there’s nothing available new to satisfy someone who wants this type of pickup.
Ohhh baby
Its LS time again …
I don’t think most of these trucks are gone. There still a lot of them for sale and on the streets.
Kevin:
How does the vehicle history report tell us that I was garage kept? I’m kind of “dense” and don’t understand those history reports.
Not a sustainer
The history report includes information about the title, mileage, accidents, and other information of that nature, but the garage kept claim was made by the seller and was not included in the report. I worded that somewhat poorly and edited it to prevent further confusion, so I apologize for that.
For the Premium level vehicle history report, it gives satellite images of the owners home in which you can view pics of it stored snug as bug inside the garage.
I don’t care who you are…that’s funny right there.
Not a sustainer
@tom71mustang wonder how many people you got thinking about that one 🤣👍
Had a 91. 4 cyl. 5 speed and no power steering.
Probably one of the most fun cars to drive that I’ve owned.
There’s plenty of them out of there…..but if the rust hasn’t gotten to them the hot rodder wanna be’s have.
GLWTS.
What happened to the 2.8 v6 on earlier s10’s? Is this much bigger v6 based on that one & are they both durable good economical motors? Or would have the old chevy strait 6, say fitted with fuel injection(like “down under”) have been a better choice for a truck? I know the strait 6 makes max torque at very low rpm & has timing “gears”.
The 2.8 was pretty much more trouble than it was worth IMO and I’ve done quite a few v8 swaps on that engine..the 4.3 is basically a SB 350 with 2 cylinders missing from the block and a much better engine
I had an ‘82 S-10 2.8 with a stick and had no trouble ever with the engine. 6 years and 116,000 miles until some fool rear-ended me in an ice storm. My first new vehicle and I loved it.
Well, I guess the secrets out! I started bidding on this truck last Sunday night.. figured that I might actually be able to buy it for a “reasonable” price. Myself and 2 other bidders took it up to the current level where I was at $8100.. I had this exact truck all through high school. My father sold it to me when I got my license to teach me about car payments and responsible finances. I had it for the next 5 years and 150k miles. A lot of firsts happened in the truck, and I guess nostalgia has a price in 2020! My guess is that it’ll get to sticker now because evidently, a lot of us had similar experiences! I reached out to the seller asking about the history and concerns about the truck sitting for the better part of 25 years, but haven’t had a response back. Hopefully the gas wasn’t sitting in the tank all that time.
My 85 with the 2.8 wouldn’t run if it was over 94 degrees out. Dealer couldn’t replicate it so they couldn’t fix it. I traded it in on an 89 15004WD which was a blast to drive but was a lemon. Last Chevy I’ll buy unless it’s a 55-57 truck. Or GMC.
In 1996 my 95 doge slt pickup got stolen and wrecked, insurance spent $9500.00 fixing it I wanted rid of it, motor knocked standard trans noisy in 3rd, so i went hunting for a new midsize truck, test drove a s15 extended cab loaded, 30 grand canadian, and ford ranger stripped, 4 stick, a gutless wonder, 17 grand, bought me a 97 dakota 5.2 v8 5 speed sick reg. cab short box, 355 shure grip hd everything for $19,500 best truck I have ever owned , the s15 was crap compaired to the dakota ,still is, stil driving the dakota and will for years to come if I don’t die first!
It’s a great truck and yes, I’d switch engines when this one died. Th truck is three thousand miles away otherwise I’d be all over it.
Had a 92 that looked identical to this one. Mine had a the 2.8 v6 and 5 speed. Loved the truck but ended up trading it for a used F150 to tow a camper.
Had an 89 S-15 extended, 2 WD, 4.3, and a 5 speed. It used to catch a lot of cars off guard, especially when it chirped going into third!
