66k-Mile Survivor: 1969 Chevrolet Corvette Convertible
With Christmas just around the corner, the bow on this 1969 Chevrolet Corvette Convertible is inspiring me to ask the wife to add it to my wish list, but I haven’t been all that well-behaved this year so I’ll more than likely just end up with ashes and switches. But if I’d been better this one would probably be on my holiday radar, as it’s still mostly original and a fairly rare color too, with both hard and soft tops plus the factory side pipes making me wish all the more it could be in my garage on the morning of December 25th. The ‘Vette can be spotted here on eBay and is located in Ocoee, Florida, just a few miles west of Orlando, with bidding already up to $19,300 yet still short of the reserve.
I couldn’t find an exact number for the 1969 Monaco Orange cars, but several sources estimate fewer than 600 left the factory in this color, so it is sort of a rarity with the seller also telling us the paint here is original, and it still looks pretty decent even with that Florida sun shining down on it. That’s also the original black vinyl covering the removable hardtop, plus there’s also a black soft top, so you’ll be nicely covered year-round no matter what season it is.
This one’s not a big block but does retain the factory 350 V8 offering the same number of horsepower, plus an impressive amount of photos are provided with casting IDs to verify it’s still the born with component. Also original is the Muncie M21 4-speed manual transmission, and with just under 66,000 miles there’s probably plenty of happy motoring remaining before any serious drivetrain attention will be required. The Corvette is also equipped with power steering and power brakes, along with 3.70 gears to help get those Cooper Cobras rolling quickly.
Other than some light seat belt rubbing on the driver’s side of the console, the interior seems exceptionally well-preserved with very little wear on the seats and door panels. The dash appears to be in fine condition with the gauges looking excellent, and further down we get to see several photos of the platform which all show what appears to be a solid and dry underside. This one gives every indication of a capable driver ready for the next owner to enjoy, and the amount of originality we’re finding here sets this one apart from so many other C3s that were already restored decades ago. What are your thoughts on this 1969 Corvette Convertible?

Wow!
Ditto, and $$$$$$. Amazing.
Wow is Right!!!! I must say there are certain colors that make a Vette pop more than others and this is most certainly one of them. I dont remember many with a black vinyl top like this, but it goes good with that orange. The whole car is just in amazing condition. And a 350 is plenty of fun with that 4 speed and 370s in the rear is a nice balance, good to get it off the line yet not screaming at 65 mph on route 80. Hope it goes to a good home.
I think it is about time to do something about my mid-life crisis…
I concur!
To Mike.
In the words of my “much better than I deserve” GF, “It never hurts to ask”.
This car has most of the boxes checked. 350hp small block, 4 speed, original side exhaust, 2 tops, numbers matching and it appears all original. The only thing that may hurt the selling price a little is the under-carriage rust. This car is quite a find, and the new owner will have to put some money into it, but it would be a solid investment. Great car, buy it and live a little!
Recently while admiring cars on this site my wife mentioned the mid-life crisis car and I responded at my age it’s more of an end-of-life crisis.
I’ve been a good boy this year so my wife can place the keys to this in my stocking. But I’ve been dropping hints for years and neither she nor Santa seems to able to deliver. Bah humbug. Bet this Vette tickles under someone else’s beard though. But it’ll take closer to Thirty large to swing it IMHO. C3’s sure have risen in value over the last decade. I now wish I had kept mine.
Stunning ! Love the color with the vinyl roof combo….and the sides pipes too..amazing ! Would match my garage perfectly . Ive been good….most of the time.
Tight
A hard top convertible C3…not something i’ve seen a lot of…Maybe because i usually discredited the C3’s, but i know they helped fuel my interest in the Corvette when I was a kid.
At first I thought the bow on the hood was some Frankenstein turbo set up emerging through a hole in the hood.
Me too Keith. My eyes aren’t what they use to be. I’m just glad it was a bow. Nice Vette I’ve always intrigued by that 350/350 engine. Don’t know much about them but I can imagine it was a killer small block. Not many came with one or order with one. Comment anyone.
Bought that car in Lemans Blue in January of 69 when I came back from Southeast Asia for $5,385 cash. Really long story but I was a foolish young and if I’d only………..
Boy that reminds me of the one that got away back in 1979. Body was gray but the rest looked the same and IIRC the mechanicals were identical. Biggest thing I remember is it took Super Shell or Sunoco 260 to not ping and self-destruct. It did run like a scalded dog. It was over 100 hitting 4th gear, and boy was that one a thrill. If I had the room and some spare cash, I’d give this one some serious thought.
$59.969 on their website – YIKES!
