4-Speed Convertible: 1967 Oldsmobile Cutlass 4-4-2

With nearly 25,000 units sold during the 1967 production run, the Oldsmobile Cutlass with the 442 package remained a popular choice among muscle car connoisseurs, although that number climbed even higher the following year when the 4-4-2 became its own separate model.  This 1967 Olds Cutlass 442 has plenty of positives going for it, such as being a convertible and retaining the numbers-matching drivetrain, including the 4-speed manual transmission.  Barn Finds reader Mitchell G. spotted this one and sent us the tip, and we’d like to thank him for the share!

The seller describes this one as an all-original barn find, though no specifics are provided such as how long this one was previously stored, but a clue might be the sticker inside the windshield which reads 1988.  The body is said to be solid overall, with just the lower fenders and area below the windshield mentioned as needing some sheet metal attention.  There are some other exterior imperfections and a moderate-size dent on the trunk, but for the most part, this one seems to have some good bones to work with whenever the future owner decides to begin a restoration.

It’s certainly not perfect, but a lot of the interior components are in better shape than I would have thought for a sixties convertible.  The seats and door panels seem near satisfactory as-is for a driver, as does most of the dash, but the floor pans are showing some surface rust along with a few small holes.  Kudos to the seller for removing the carpet so we see, and also for providing some photos of the frame, which has been deemed solid with no signs of rot.

The 400 is stated as the original factory engine, and it’s said to run rather well with no knocks, no unusual noises, and good oil pressure.  This Olds is also equipped with power steering and brakes, plus the clutch has also been replaced recently.  There’s no A/C, but what a perfect excuse to put the top down on sunny days!
