440 Magnum: 1968 Dodge Charger
I am not sure if this 1968 Charger is more patina or silver? It is located in Allen, Texas just north of Dallas. It is listed here on eBay with 5 days remaining in the auction. The car does not have any bids yet. The original engine was replaced with a 1966 440 cubic inch V8 backed by a 4 speed transmission. Exhaust is sent to the rear via an Accurate Exhaust system. It is being sold by a dealer who appears to specialize in Mopars.
The black interior looks very nice. It is said to be a California car and has new seat covers, carpet and headliner. The ad states that a “real RT VIN” is in place. To me that is not the same as an original VIN or original R/T. The car has no fender tags or broadcast sheet. The Charger rides on chrome 15 inch Magnum Rally wheels and what looks like fairly new BFG Radial Tires. The interior and internal wiring has been replaced.
The drivetrain sends power to the back wheels via a Dana 60 3.54 rear end. The Charger was originally painted QQ1 blue but was resprayed metallic silver years ago. The paint appears faded or dull and their are some surface rust in the chips in the paint on the fenders and rear quarters. The lights, wipers and all gauges are said to work. With new suspension components, it is said to run and drive great.
If this is an original R/T optioned Charger, it left the factory with a 4440 cubic inch Magnum V8 which is long gone. The engine developed 375 horsepower and would run a low 14 second quarter mile from the factory. However, the seller makes it clear that this is not a numbers matching vehicle. This car can be driven as is or restored. It sure has eye appeal if you want a driver and are not concerned about a numbers matching drivetrain.

Only 375HP from a 4440? :P Holy Malaise Batman!!!
A nice Deep shade of German Silver pearl metallic or a really nice red would make this ’68 stand out in any crowd.
This is the best year for the 2nd generation B bodied Charger, though I’m biased as I’ve owned a few. The ’86 I had hardly can be valued a Charger.
It was still fun to drive and was fun to put up against my roommates ’86 SVO. Both 4 bangers with Turbos and manuals
Went on ASC site to see there inventory. They have a 70 Charger done to the 9’s!! Asking $185,000 😲! The silver Charger was $59,860.00 since the eBay sale ended. Didn’t say sold. Unless someone made a deal with them. It was not perfect and it’s a true 440 Charger engine vin code L. The blue paint that the Charger was born with…would look better than this silver . I guess prices are going way up since it’s getting harder and harder to find good Mopars. 🐻🇺🇸
These cars need Time, Money, and hard work. And a good place to find parts. And space to work on them. They asking 59,500 just to get it done you will spend another 59,000 dollars. Maybe a little more, you always must think about Rust .the number one biggest problem for this job.
No fender tag If the vin plate is original it shows 440 originally seller states it was replaced with a 66 440
I’ve always been on the wrong side of history. I sold a burnt orange? ’70 V-code 4 speed super trac pack Cuda for 7K 2 months before they skyrocketed to 20K and in 2015 I sold my 99.999 % original burnt orange 1970 Charger R/T U-code gator grain roof for 22K
“Buy high, sell low” has always been my investment strategy…
