43k Original Miles: 1972 Dodge Charger

For those seeking a B-Body with the most outrageous performance capabilities, 1972 probably isn’t the year, and the 318-equipped examples definitely fall short in terms of what you’re hoping to find under the hood.  On the other hand, it’s also important to remember that not every Dodge Charger was intended to rule the block, so if a nicely preserved and non-terrorizing driver suits your needs, this one seems worthy of a close look.

Not very many details are revealed here, such as past ownership history or why this Charger still looks so sweet.  However, I’m guessing this is one of those cases where the Mopar has always been lovingly maintained, and the low mileage never hurts things in the preservation department either.  The seller says only 43,000 miles are on the ticker, and while he doesn’t specify if this one’s ever gotten any bodywork or a respray, the sheet metal and paint seem to remain in more than good enough condition to ensure a thumbs-up just about everywhere you go.

Some potential buyers may be disappointed to find the smallest V8 available for the period in the bay, but the 318 was easy to maintain and proved to be a reliable powerplant.  Like the rest of the car, the seller provides little information about the engine, but he does say the small block starts and runs excellently.  This one’s got the tried-and-true 727 TorqueFlite automatic, plus the cool Slap Stik shifter to control it.

We just get this one interior photo to view, but it’s enough to surmise that there aren’t any obvious major blunders inside, although the driver’s bucket is wearing a seat cover.  It’s also nice to find that this one’s got A/C, and I’m really not spotting much here to criticize for a 1972 Dodge Charger in this condition priced at $18,500.  Located in Fredericksburg, Virginia, this one seems like a fun cruiser that’s ready to go, and it can be seen here on Craigslist.  Is this a B-Body you could envision in your collection?
