429-Powered Driver: 1969 Ford LTD

Disclosure: This site may receive compensation from some link clicks and purchases.

Do you like power but need room for the whole family? This 1969 Ford LTD is equipped with a 429 cubic inch V8 and looks to be in good condition. This cruiser is being sold here on eBay and there is only 1 day remaining in the auction. It is currently bid to $5,200 and the reserve has not been met. The car is located in Fremont, California. The LTD sports aftermarket wheels and tires.

The interior looks very nice. The center console on the seat appears to be aftermarket. The seller states that they have upgraded the stereo and speakers as well as rebuilt the tilt steering column. The seats and carpet look to be in excellent condition. The seller notes that the speedometer has been replaced. Although the current odometer reading is less than 2,000 miles, it should be noted that the original odometer displayed 27,700 miles before being replaced. The seller doesn’t say why it was replaced but he believes the total mileage of the vehicle is estimated to be less than 30,000 miles.

What makes this car appealing is what is under the hood. This 1969 Ford LTD has a powerful 429 big block motor that is backed by a rebuilt C6 3-speed automatic transmission. The seller states that they are the second owner of this vehicle since 2017 and has supposedly performed numerous repairs and upgrades over the past six years, all of which are supported by accompanying receipts. Some of the work done includes a new front end, rebuilt transmission, upgraded ignition and Edelbrock intake and carburetor. The oil pan gasket and some of the freeze plugs have been replaced, too.

In addition to these upgrades and repairs, there have been numerous other repairs made, including the replacement of the starter, ignition switch, regulator, and starter solenoid. All weather stripping has been replaced, and a new alternator has been installed. A coolant reservoir cylinder has been added to the engine bay for convenience. The car has also been upgraded with LED lighting both inside and out, including the tail lights, reverse lights, headlights, and interior lights. Furthermore, an additional magnetic LED dome light has been included for enhanced visibility.

Now we are hitting the sweet spot with this bruiser ! If I dare say this would be my choice for entering the classic car ownership & the witness protection program from the fairer sex as these cars have it all going on at a reasonable price! Yes the gas mileage is double edge sword as there is nothing in life for free! You want brawling horsepower? Room enough for some front & back seat action or room for trophies to ride along ? Anyway you slice it this brute has you covered . Like I mentioned on the 429 beak bird fuel injection , intake maniflold & headers not only improve throttle response but less restrictive exhaust has the effect of improving gas mileage ( if you can resist the punch it at every turn or straight away) I never forget a older friend of mine explaining the virtues of headers where by the time he was done it seemed like a shameful waste of money not to buy headers immediately! Ah the good Ole days when life was like a loaded gun!

Where is the Original Air Breather for this car? I do not think this is a less than 30k on odometer car, way many replacement parts installed for this car and why would the original C-6 Transmission need to be Rebuilt?? Makes NO Sense!!!

Decent looking full size ford but I don’t believe it only has 30k on the clock especially with all the stuff that’s been replaced or repaired.Seems excessive for a low mileage car.429 is good. Not my favorite body style.

Agreed, quite a few repairs for claimed miles.
Do like very much the engaged seller that has made this project worthy of the time and money.

Not quite Burt’s Gator 429 LTD but pretty nice.
      Need underside shots.

My best friend had a 69 Ltd with 390 in it. That car would get up and move for it being so damn heavy. He bought it for 2000 bucks literally found in a barn in Texas. Only had it a month before someone wrecked into it while it was parked. They were running from the cops.

I had a 69 Galaxy with 390 in it. Plenty of power. Easy on fuel. 25 gallon tank. I bought it new in July 69 and had until a lady ran into the back of it while it was parked in front of my house. I had just filled the fuel tank. The only problem was it rode so soft I would fall asleep if I wasn’t careful. Great car, wish I still had it.

My mother had a ‘68 Thunderbird with the same 429/ 360hp. I had a ‘66 Olds with factory Hurst 4-speed, 400 ci and 335 hp. The Thunderbird was faster- always. I’ve wondered if we just happened to get a better than avg. 429.

Nice ride. I remember these from my youth, and loved how they’d just float down the road. Little concerned about panel fitment on the passenger side front – not sure if there’s been some damage or it just that the two-ton passenger door has a bit of old-age sag. Still, good looking ol’ Ford…

There is what looks to be an aftermarket AC unit under the dash, but no sign of the hardware under the hood. Something for the next owner to deal with.

Would’ve liked to see the fender badge saying “429”. Although that stuff isn’t necessarily original, it can’t be easy to find either. Not crazy about the aftermarket a/c dealy – nor the “console”. Too highly personalized, I probably wouldn’t go for this one. If I’m gonna get one of these it’s going to look like it came out of the showroom. I know – it’s a hobby thing for some people. Even me, but I’d just wait and wait til I found the right stuff to fix things with. Want a/c? I’d search the planet for an a/c equipped vehicle and replace the entire dash. That kinda thing. I do like those cars though.

I remember drag racing in the 70s. This old guy (50-60) was running a 68-69 Mercury Brohm with a BB V8. It was just bracket racing but he ran low 15s. He won his bracket probably 75% of the time! Ugly and unassuming. I’m in my 70s and still have a 71 Demon 340 4speed. The younger guys must think I’m ancient!🤣🤣🤣

My dad a had ’69 XL in the same color combo. Great car with the fastback body style. Smooth ride and I thought the hideaway headlights were cool. Ebay claims are just that….claims. Not a bad car for 9k.
