4X4 Convertible! 1975 Chevrolet K5 Blazer
The Chevrolet Blazer and its corporate cousin, the GMC Jimmy, got a redesign and a larger platform for ’73, but the completely removable top remained part of the package, at least for a couple of more years. The roofline got modified a bit for the 1976 model, probably due to safety concerns for the front occupants, but you could still attain full interior exposure except for the windshield up through ’75. If you’ve been looking for a mid-seventies Blazer project that can be driven while it’s being worked on, this one may be worth checking out. It’s located in San Luis Obispo, California, and can be spotted here on eBay where bidding has reached $14,300, but that’s still not enough yet for the owner to say goodbye as the reserve has not been met.
We don’t get much in the way of history on this one, such as how long ago the seller acquired it or what exactly has been done to the vehicle under his watch, but the owner has come to the realization that he just doesn’t have the time for it and has decided to sell. Right now, the Blazer is wearing an aftermarket soft top, but the removable hardtop is also included in the purchase. Some fender and rocker panel work is in the buyer’s future, with a few bubbles also present in the paint, but overall the sheet metal is said to be mostly sound.
Under the hood is a 350 cubic inch V8 with a 4-Barrel, and although there’s no word on whether or not it’s ever had a rebuild the motor is said to start right up and the drivetrain is also stated as sound. The engine bay looks to be in good working order, and I can appreciate that it’s being presented honestly without a major clean-up before the photo shoot. The Blazer is also equipped with a 4-Speed manual transmission plus it’s been lifted, with oversize wheels and tires now in the mix.
Not a lot of specifics are given about the interior, other than the seats are original and need to be recovered. It looks like there’s some general wear-and-tear inside there and the dashboard has some cracking, but for a nearly 50-year-old 4X4, it really doesn’t appear to be all that bad, though purists won’t like that aftermarket steering wheel. I’m kind of liking that this one is driveable and ready to be enjoyed while you work on upgrades and restoration at your own pace, and I might just drive it as-is for a while before doing much of anything. How about you?

Those rusty rockers tell me that there is more where that came from. Sorry. but knowing about Blazer rust first hand and the fact they didn’t even bother to clean the crap off the dashboard I’d be looking down the road for something else.

This one was probably taken out to the Pacific Ocean beaches
more than a few times that aren’t too far away from there.
If you’re interested,it’d require an in-person inspection.
It’s also on Craigslist fir sale and it has serious rot on it. You can pick up a blazer like this for less than $7000 in similar shape here in California.
