563 Miles: 1995 Honda Elite

The Honda Elite scooter has long been one of the best ways to get over your shame in riding a scooter. It actually packs some speed (by scooter standards) and depending on the displacement, will happily do 50-60 miles per hour should you ask it to. The seller of this low mileage, later production Elite claims he’s only interested in a trade for a car trailer, but if you’ve been hunting for one of these, perhaps some persistence and cash will change his mind. With only 563 miles on the odometer, it certainly seems like a time-capsule specimen. Find it here on Facebook Marketplace in Redding, Connecticut.

While it may not seem like a big deal to find a vehicle with limited use with low miles, these are really low miles. While this is hardly a scientific train of though, I would wager since the Elite can keep up with most in-town traffic, you’re probably more likely to find one with some actual miles on the clock. This one was perhaps bought to be an in-town runabout and then simply wasn’t used; I have a feeling many of the original owners of vehicles like these had intended to use it far more than they actually did. Among a certain group of big spenders, a Vespa is likely a popular anniversary gift – but do they ever actually get used to any significant degree? Doubtful.

It’s hard to tell the difference visually between an older Elite and a 90s model like this one aside from the decal font and the gauge cluster. The basic formula remained the same and Honda didn’t deviate much from the original design. These days, there’s a growing appreciation for scooters, four-wheelers, and ATVs from the 1980s, especially since so many of them were abused and stored carelessly. This Elite looks like new, and given how easy it is to store something with these dimensions, it’s an easy decision to pick up a runabout like this if you’re inclined to use a scooter for in-town travel. You just have to find a way to convince the seller to let go without a trailer to offer in trade.

So he wants to trade a $1,200 dollar scooter for a $2500+ car trailer? I like it and would buy it for cash for my 3 Mile commute but I’m not giving up a trailer for it
