Here is a rare find. A 28k mile 1969 Chevrolet Chevelle SS is now for sale here on eBay. The car has one day remaining before auction closes. The current bid has reached $36,100 but the reserve has not been met. As a bonus, this car is mechanically sound and has its original L78 396 cubic inch V8 engine. The car is located in St. Charles, Missouri.
The seller has owned this column shifted beauty for five years. The car has its original white interior and all the sheet metal is believed to be original. The options and electronics are said to work except for the gas gauge. The L78 396 cubic inch V8 engine delivered 375 horsepower from the factory. The buyer has the choice of 15 inch wheels with BFG Radial TAs or 14 inch wheels with Goodyear Polyglass F70s.
The original paint shows well on this low mileage car and the car is said to be reliable and runs great. One unique option is the chambered exhaust on this car. The Turbo 400 automatic transmission send power to a 4.10 rear end with posi traction. The Code 51 Dusk Blue exterior color is said to be original except for one blemish that was repaired years ago.
My friend had a 1969 Chevelle in high school with a bench seat but it had a 307 cubic inch V8 that was a hand me down from his grandparents. This car would be an enjoyable car for cruise ins and people would be amazed at the low mileage. So what is a 28k mile, rust free L78 Chevelle SS worth? Few cars get my attention more than the ’69 SS Chevelle.
I’d prefer buckets and a console, but this car is so nice that I’d live with the bench and column shift!

My mom drove one back in the day. I would love to have one. As I recall, the engine caught on fire & the whole car went up.
I don’t think there’s another car that summed up the era better, than a ’69 396 Chevelle. The way this car is optioned, it shows, your imagination was the limit. While this car starts out as a highly optioned car on the outside and underneath, the interior is rather spartan. Neat car, but can’t help but say, it will cost someone 10 times what it cost in 1969, for someone to relive this era. Even adjusted for inflation, $36g’s is still $36g’s, and somehow, $3600 in 1969 just seemed cheaper.
This one’s got a long way to go to find a new home.

This one is exactly the way I recall them in the ’70’s. They were muscular, had big tires and were FAST. They were the envy of every high school kid like me who could not afford anything more than a beater.
Be curious what this sells for as it ticks every box in my book. Beautiful car but unfortunately isn’t in my future.

4-speeds are nice, and fun.
But the TH400 is the one which gets a Chevelle SS down the strip the fastest, by far.
I owned a ’69, different color, and with buckets and the console shifter. Lower output engine too, although with the mods I did, probably comparable to the L78 power.
Street raced it a fair amount in the early 70’s. Had a very high “WIN” record, most often by completely deflating the egos of rivals in the first 60ft. That car had an outstanding holeshot. Many competitors simply gave up when I was 7 or more lengths ahead at the 1/8.
Of course, I was young and invincible, and would never recommend street racing now, to anyone.
Column is a downer,but that’s a spectacular car in perfect colors !This is a $60-70k car.

This is a very nice car heavily optioned. The L78 engine is rare and the performance should have been impressive.
The history of this car has been well documented for the last five years and is anything known about the first 46 years of its existence? Usually cars with extremely low mileage have a lot of other information besides the original sticker.

Win at the strip, and still let the ladies cuddle up at the drive in. This car is gorgeous.
