Although the Plymouth Barracuda was all-new in 1970, its wings were clipped after 1971 as a performance car. Before 1972, you could get a ‘Cuda with a 383, 440, or 426 Hemi V8. After that, the 340 was the top engine and you could even get a ‘Cuda with the same basic 318 cubic inch 8-cylinder that populated a lot of Chrysler’s family cars. This 1973 is a running project which has been treated to a new engine and it has been gifted with many upgrades. Located in Las Vegas, Nevada, this Mopar is available here on Facebook Marketplace for $18,500, which might be a bargain at today’s prices.

After hitting sales of nearly 50,000 units of the new E-body Barracuda in ‘70, demand was down to less than 20,000 copies in 1973. That didn’t come anywhere near the output of the two market leaders, the Ford Mustang and Chevrolet Camaro. A mere 2,700 of the ‘Cuda editions were sold with the 318 engine, which we assume is how the seller’s Plymouth was built. A crate motor of that displacement is in the car today and has lots of other new parts, like a set of headers, a new carburetor, a starter, an alternator, and more.

Mechanically, this seems like a new car and even has a new Bluetooth sound system. The seller has acquired a new interior (seats, dash pad, carpeting) that’s still in the boxes, waiting for the buyer to install. And the ‘Cuda will need new paint though we’re not sure what the original color was without a cowl tag to inspect. It even has air conditioning, though that isn’t in place either.
