0-60 In 56 Seconds: A Pair Of 1958 Lloyd Alexanders
For a time after the war, Lloyd was the third largest car builder in Germany after Opel and VW. The Alexander is an upscale model with a full synchro 4-speed transmission, windows, a trunk lid, and even a headliner! To load the trunk in previous models you had to put stuff in behind the back seat! It has a 600 CC detuned 18 HP twin Borgward engine. Lloyd was one of several companies building inexpensive cars in postwar Germany. Their first cars, the 300s, were wood and fabric covered. These 2 are listed on craigslist in central Oregon where they have been sitting for decades. They are asking $1,000, but seem very flexible, especially if you can convince them you plan to restore them. It looks like there might be enough here to build a car or two.
The white one looks mostly complete. There are just a couple of dents and no signs of rust. It has the “TS” emblem on the trunk, so it’s the 25 HP model which adds 4 MPH to the top speed, a claimed 68 MPH and zero to 60 in only in only 56 seconds. I don’t know what the TS stands for but given the Campbell’s tomato products inside, could it be Tomato Soup?
The red one is missing a few bits like the hood and bumpers, but looks like it has lots of good parts.
They don’t show much of the interiors but it looks like the red car has a full set of seats. The white one seems to come with several cans of tomato juice! There are parts included, including engines and transmissions. If you are a dedicated micro car guy, these could be interesting. The interest in and prices of micro cars have soared lately. Do you think one of these could be restored?

I wish they where closer to Michigan
Like the license plate on the red one “MEN” how cool is that?
I submitted this to BF because if I weren’t in the middle of a project right now I’d be buying these things! I hope that if someone scoops them up they will tell us!
“TS” = too slow. Again, I always chuckle, when Americans were putting dual quads on big V-8 motors in 1958, Europeans offer the “TS” model, with 7 more hp, WOW. These are cool little cars, but are clearly a hindrance on the road today. I’ve driven slow trucks, and a minute is a long time when accelerating. I guess this would speed up the process. ( I tell ya’, pick any car, and someone probably made a drag racer out of one)

Nice find. For what the seller is asking i would think these will sell quickly. Looks like most of what’s needed to get one on the road to enjoy and leave enough left of one to start another project or help another example to get to roadworthy condition. Fun looking little cars
My dad had a Borgward when I was a kid. Getting that car was the coolest thing he ever did, IMO.
