1-Of-3? 1991 Ford Crown Victoria LTD LX Wagon

Disclosure: This site may receive compensation from some link clicks and purchases.

Family-hauler fans, you might want to check this out! It’s allegedly one of three produced with this color combo, and it’s up for sale here on eBay in Fountain Hills, Arizona. Let’s check it out!

The square-body Ford wagon should be a familiar sight to many of our readers, as it was the Ford wagon for many years. “Crown Victoria” as a name plate,  had been on hold since 1956, but was reintroduced as a top trim level for the LTD sedan and station wagon. All told, there were 1.9 million units between 1979 and 1991, and approximately 82,000 units rolled out in the final year. One could have multiple option levels and, a couple of engine choices, but for the wagon specifically, you could get them with or without the simulated woodgrain that most people think of when imagining these cars.

This particular wagon is, as we can see, in rather nice condition overall. The seller tells us that it has very few body discrepancies, has only traveled 43,000 miles in its lifetime, and that it started its journey in Illinois and ended up in Arizona as a “snowbird” car. They also tell us that it has had a fair bit of maintenance, so that’s another plus. Perusing the pictures, it’s evident that this car was very well kept in general. We would have liked to see a picture of the engine compartment, but we don’t mind so much, since the rest of it looks so clean. It looks as though the fold-down rear seats have never seen sunlight!

I personally think it’s neat and would be interested to see whether or not it is actually one of three produced, as the seller claims. It’s currently bidding at $3600 with a reserve and 4 days remaining, so I am curious to see what it ends up going for!

That’s what I think, what do you think? Let us know in the comments!

Chris – for Ford, sure, but GM had their full size wagons till 1996.

Yeah but the Ford wagons were far superior to the 77-90 or the 91-96 GM wagons.

Uh…ahh…uh…yeah, I dunno about the ’91-’96 comment, CJM. I’ve driven both and currently own an ’89 Ford wagon and the thing is completely gutless compared to the ’96 Roadmonster I drove first. Even before they stuck a torque-tuned LT1 in them, the GMs were more powerful and more dynamic. The Ford has a taller, more useful cargo area though, so there’s that.

Ford wagon is superior to a 96 caprice classic? How come you forgot to mention any facts to back that statement up?
        Dont worry… I’ll wait!

Nice try, but all I see is a low mile Crown Vic wagon. Who cares about the color combo? White with tan guts isn’t exactly unheard of! Someone is splitting hairs that may not exist.

One of those cases where being “rare” has absolutely no impact on value. It’s a nice find, but I can’t imagine anybody getting excited over the color combo.

There are fantastic cars. It is one of 3 for a reason. Ambulance white with no woodgrain over parchment leather is not exactly the most desirable combo. Nevertheless, i’d be happy to drive it for the current bid price! At least it has the nice Turbine alloys. Needs some proper white wall tires though. White letter tires on this type of car is absolutely ridiculous.

Unless you need it swallow a clothes dryer. Or seat more than 4 people for any length of time. Or get 25mpg. Or have dual-zone A/C. Or you have to get up and attend to a child in another seat row. Or inflate an air mattress from the trunk.

I used to own a Minivan and now own one of these Ford wagons…the wagon is by far cooler and rides better, but the minivan had way more built-in utility.

I’m the forth of eight kids that grew up in the 60’s and 70’s, and we almost always had two of these at once to get everybody where we needed to go. Dad bought a new Country Squire in 1967 and added another in 1968. There were times we would get home and discover that one of us kids was left behind because Mom thought Dad had him/her in his car or vice versa. Good old days of facing out the back into the windshield of the car following us.

Not to mention winter driving is a lot better in a minivan

Gumby is referring to the AutoCheck report that is included in the EBay listing. Not sure why sellers think they can misrepresent something when the truth is clearly different.

I am not saying the guy isn’t trying to cover something up, he might be. But my experience with these services, including the big one advertised with a fox is that they tend to be inaccurate. I just flat out don’t trust them and we should all take what they say with a grain of salt. This Ford might be fine.
I think this is a rather unattractive looking vehicle, and I can see why it is one of three. I hope I am not offending anyone else’s taste with this statement, taste is subjective & I am sure I like things that others find hideous. I liked my exwife after all lol. Oh yeah, others liked her too…that was the problem. Never mind lol!

One of 3? 1 have one absolutely identical, colour scheme interior. 212k. Bought it off ebay in Charlotte SC, drove her back to NY. Not common package, but one of 3?… umm. Mopar made rare packages like that. I’ve never known Ford to.

This thing should be in a museum – no scratches even on all the plastic in the rear area!
But the flat dash is quite a departure from the futuristic one used 20 years earlier! …

Perhaps the driver’s airbag made such a cockpit dash impossible in ’91?

I have one of those – a 1985 with the wood grain. The Country Squire. Without the wood grain decal is called the Country Sedan. My dad bought it new, and I got it last year. Nice and functional, but not in quite the same shape as the one here. I can tell anyone interested in the one here from experience that if you treat one of these well it will return the favor.

The Country Sedan nameplate was retired after 1974. Then the non woodgrain wagon became the LTD wagon, and in 1983 the LTD Crown Victoria Wagon, which is what this one is.
