1928 Ford Woody Project: Ready to Rod
Barn Finds reader Olaf recently found some vintage Fords on craigslist, and I quickly earmarked this 1928 Woody project as my favorite. You can find it here on craigslist in Silver Springs, Florida. While certainly far from complete, it’s not hard to envision just how sweet this could be once finished. By the description, it sounds as if the drivetrain is already sorted and the bodywork and interior remain the next items on the checklist. Woody values are always so tough to estimate, in my opinion. Finished, rot-free versions command big money, but when they’re found in project form, the expense of a proper restoration demands that the purchase price remain reasonable. I like the modern 5-point alloy wheels on this chassis, but they probably have way too much offset for the finished product. Would you keep going with the hot-rod theme or restore it back to classic panel wagon configuration?

it is well on it’s way to being rodded , and where would I start?? Half the things I am thinking of , I don’t know what they are called, but first thing I thought of ( and I know I am probably not thinking in the order it should be taken care of ) are the fenders and running boards I am not sure of what sort of rear bumper would go with it ( of course research it) either a custom made one, or one off one in a junk yard that has been re chromed when driving this thing I would want to be seen when turning and or stopping .. I am thinking of one where the tail lights are into the bumper ..also sequential turn signals .. Interior designed for comfort might as well have the 4 or 5 speed manual tranny late 60s Mustang dash I could go on and on
Model A wagons were all four doors, so this is not an original car/body anyway. The cowl (what’s left of it), hood sides and fenders are the only original parts here. A street rod is the only option. Values for woodies really won’t have much of a bearing on the outcome of the finished product. It will be all about the style and execution.

Definitely continue down the HotRod path. Agree with Jeff on the offset of current wheels though. Being a purist, I’d swap the SBC for a Windsor motor though, after all it is a Blue Oval. Z1rider is spot on, not a ton of original here, but not about woody value, all about style…
HOT ROD WOODIES RULE…..carry on….Model A’s don’t have that much value and it’s well on it’s way anyhow….put in a comfortable interior and take it on cruise night……luvet…
