Update 5/16/24 – This Scout has been relisted here on eBay with some new photos and no reserve. Will it find a new home this time around?

From 3/31/24 – This patina-heavy Scout 800A is a special Aristocrat model. It seems funny for such a basic and agricultural-like 4×4 to have such a posh top hat-wearing name, but special editions were a good way to add some zing to this otherwise basic 1970 International Scout. The seller has it listed here on eBay in Dallas, Texas.

The opening photo looked as if this Scout 800A Aristocrat may have been painted blue at some point, didn’t it? Unless the gray primer was just picking up blue light or something. The body color on this special edition was silver and that’s it, no other colors were available in the Aristocrat. The hood and top were both blue, but the sides were silver.

International made the 800A version of the Scout from late 1968 until 1970. There was a short-lived 800B model until 1971, and then they were redesigned into the Scout II, the last hurrah for International’s Scout line. The Aristocrat edition had silver and blue paint, a blue vinyl interior, a chrome roof rack, and badges showing it as a special edition. You can see that this example is fairly rugged and will need a full restoration, which such a rare model deserves.

Even with all of the rust visible, and if you go through all of the seller’s photos, you’ll see what’s involved, this is a worthy project as you’ll most likely never see another one at a car show. This example has a Borg Warner three-speed automatic with a gear selector on the center console. I don’t see a back seat among the seller’s photos, but there’s a photo of the top, so that’s good. Hagerty is at $11,900 for a #4 fair-condition Scout 800A, just as a general reference.

The engine is International’s 304-cu.in. OHV V8 which had 193 horsepower and 272 lb-ft of torque when new. This one isn’t currently running, but the seller says it is a nice, dry South Texas truck and is solid overall. Have any of you heard of this Scout model?
