1975 Chevrolet Corvette Bargain?
Some online finds leave you wanting to move on quickly but like a car wreck they draw you in and you just can’t look away. For only $1,500 you could pile this in your shop and tell one and all that you’re working on a ‘Vette! It’s located in Sacramento, California and can be found here on craigslist. Should I run over and have a look? It does have a “rebuilt” 350 and it is “inside” the car. The seller says the “stairwell or apart” but you can fix that, right? The one thing the seller does have absolutely correct is that it does need restoration. And oh, not to worry, all the parts are in that pickup.
We often wonder why a seller can’t be bothered to at least wash off their car. You’d think this guy could blow out the leaves, but I’m thinking he’d rather not disturb the critters in their nests. You can see there’s still upholstery on the seats and that parking brake handle looks nice and shiny. The wiring is conveniently laid out for inspection.
It has the t-tops and there’s the instrument bezel. Do you feel hopeful yet? Those taillights look nice. The paint might buff right out, right? What color do you think it might be? Could there be $1,500 worth of parts here? If someone else has already snapped up this bargain, you’ll find it saved here on adsaver. And no, I’m not running over to have a look. My apologies, of course, to anyone who finds affection for this sad C3. Imagine, in the background, some feller playing his twangy guitar and singing “My birdcage is rusty and my insides quite crusty, but won’t you take me home today”.

The ad was one long sentence, and I didn’t understand it. Maybe it’s me.
Punctuation is for anal retentives…
My 6th grade teacher would have written “ROS”…(Run On Sentence) in red ink, of course.
Oh well. The “Parking in the corner of your garage, and tell everyone “‘I’m working on my Vette’”. I thought was a great statement!
1975 Corvette and bargain should not be in the same sentence. Hate to be a Danny Downer but 1975 Corvettes may never see much investment potential. what did they have by then, 75 HP? Especially this abused mess. Sorry to say but go through the car and make it right, take your total investment, divide by 10 and that is your resale value.
Reminds me of a Mopar on Barrett Jackson Palm Beach this past weekend, restoration receipts said to be $400K, car sold for like $75K. Good Job. UGH!
I rarely say this, but this one is a parts car maybe. Put it in a garage somewhere, maybe I am wrong and it will be worth something in, um, 80 years?
Tom, some of us like resto mods, especially when it comes to the sad 70ties. This is indeed a bargain if you want a classic c3 look (can retrofit chrome bumpers on this) with a modern 600hp LS engine, t56, rack and pinion, 12 bolt center…
Nobody sane would do it to a complete 69, this however is a perfect candidate assuming birdcage and frame are good
Fair enough, I concede. Resto mods are great. That would be the only way to bring the car back and have any value to it. Well done.
I was wrong. Just ask my wife, it is NOT the first time !!!!
I guess when it comes to most corvettes after 1973 I don’t have a vision for them…although I have owned them….COUPLED with the fact that someone allowed the car to get this crappy!!
No luggage rack? Worthy of a concours restoration.
$1,500?
You’ve got a better shot of seeing Paul Lynde Junior
Automatic…..ugh.
Nothing to see here folks, keep moving.
Looks like it was kept outside with windows open, then pushed in the garage for the photo. Critters like to shred things, not bring in intact leaves.
Cool Disco Era Vette, just needs a new motor transplant and some Dayton Wires, and you can be picking up chicks at the Roller-Disco with Ponch and Jon
Get them to come down $1,000 on the price, throw a hayabusa under the hood, and run it at LeMons…
“The wiring is conveniently laid out for inspection.”
That was funny, there.
It is listed by the same owner for $1100 here: https://sacramento.craigslist.org/cto/d/1975-chevrolet-corvette-barn/6561449344.html
He has 2 other cars on craigslist here: https://sacramento.craigslist.org/search/cto?query=916-926-9717
The same lack of punctuation is displayed in all ads.
No rust on the body!
This wreck needs to go to a school where they can put it back together.8 to 10k buys a really nice one. Could never make this rat nice for that money.
Looks to be an L82 with the smog system intact. If it’s still an L82 and a 400 turbo (with a 3200 stall speed convertor) after the “rebuild”, it worth the price for the engine and trans alone.
Do the rats come with the car?
