1960’s Amphicar Barn Find
The only thing we love more than finding a classic car in a barn, is pulling the car from the barn. This isn’t something that happens very often and while the buyer of this Amphicar won’t get the joy of actually discovering this car, they will get the joy of being the one to pull it free from its wood prison. If you want the joy of being the one to free this car you can find it in Clearlake California here on eBay with a current bid of $9,100 and 5 days left on the auction.
The seller’s in-laws bought the property this barn is on, with the car in the barn, in 1973. They haven’t moved or messed with the car the entire time they’ve had it. The car only has 5,506 miles on it and looks to be in decent shape. There appears to be some rust hiding behind the dust and dirt, but it shouldn’t be too hard to fix. The seller doesn’t know what year this car is, but we would guess it’s a ’65 or ’66.
The interior looks dusty and dirty, but intact. The seller claims the seats don’t have any tears in them and the interior panels are all good. We noticed the stereo is missing and it looks like the instrument panel trim is missing too. All the exterior trim seems to be in place though and the light mast is still with the car.
This is a true barn find and the seller has been sure to not mess with anything so the new owner can have the joy of setting this car free. We are a bit worried about all the lumber that has fallen on the car’s convertible top, but the seller claims there are no rips or tears in the top. We would give this car a good once over as these cars are known to rust out badly. The question is, should this car be restored, or should it be left in its barn find state?
