1969 Dodge Charger SCRAPTONA!
Thirty years ago on a Saturday night in the South, you might find a car like this 1969 Dodge Charger screaming around a dirt track to the crowd’s cheers. Low-budget race teams will throw something together using any pieces they can from other cars in order to campaign. That is the theme of this build spectacularly called “Scraptona.” It is a full-blown race car that is meant to look like a pieced-together mess. It can be found here on eBay with an asking price of $128,900 OBO. Built by the people at TreadWear, they started with just a shell of a Charger. The front cowl, front suspension, and roof were about all they started with. The car debuted at SEMA in 2018 and turned heads everywhere it went. Take a closer look at this awesome car!
The powerplant is a 358 cubic-inch Dodge V-8 NASCAR engine complete with a dry sump oil system. It is topped by a Holley XP750 carb, carbon airbox, which leads to 11.5:1 compression. It puts out 740 hp while revving to 8300 rpm, but it needs 100+octane fuel. The transmission is a Tremec 5-speed, which has to be a blast to drive.
You can see the interior is a full-blown race car, except with the addition of a passenger seat. The builders did a great job of integrating new components while making others match the exterior. For instance, the center “console” houses various switches and accessories but it looks like a rusty, recycled old box.
The new/vintage theme is carried out with the chassis as well. You can see the shiny Winters quick-change rear end is contrasted by the “rusty” fuel cell. You can tell by this photo just the amount of engineering that went into the suspension and chassis geometry.
Overall, this is an awesome car that deserves a spot in someone’s collection. While it isn’t everyone’s taste, you can guarantee it will get attention wherever it goes. What do you think of builds that combine new underpinnings with “old” sheet metal?

One thing for sure, you’re not going to lose this car in the parking lot. Don’t know about the asking price but I’d bet there is someone out there willing to pay it. Workmanship certainly looks good but wouldn’t put this car on a track without seat headrests with side head restraints. Wouldn’t be here if it wasn’t for them… me, and John Force a few weeks ago.
I can think of more than a few parking lots where you would lose this car the moment you turned your back.
isn’t going anywhere with a stick nowadays.
Not to younger crooks – i think they all want 4 doors, p/w, a/c, & vid screens – tho this car does have huge modern tires & wheels.
There is no way you can sneak outta your neighborhood at 6 am with this car, and if you do make it back home your underwear are going in the trash, not the hamper!
🤣🤣🤣. Yes you could “soil” yourself if you’re not use to it
Another vehicle that should be owned by the president of an HOA Board of Directors…
My HOA board president owns a Nissan Leaf…
…my condolences.
Seems like a comfy long range cruiser. Are those heated seats?
Depends how long you leave it parked in the sun. :)
