Wonderful Woody: 1949 Dodge Coronet Wagon
Woody wagons have been really popular for years. The nostalgia and uniqueness of wood-paneled classic cars are hard to beat and are very cool. This 1949 Dodge Coronet Woody Wagon is said to be an original driver with only one repaint. It can be found here on eBay with a requested opening bid of $35,000. Located in Encinitas, California, the car looks right at home on the beach! Take a look at this classy ride and let us know your opinion.
Unfortunately, there isn’t a photo of the front of the car in the ad. I’m guessing it looks like the one above and hopefully the owner will give some prospective buyers more photos of the exterior. These are pretty good looking cars and stand out from the crowd a bit compared to its Chevrolet and Ford counterparts of the same era.
Like the exterior, other than some very up-close photos, this is the only wide shot of the interior. The upholstery is in decent shape and the seller claims it is un-restored. The Dodge dash is pretty unique and looks like a work of art. All the gauges work except for the gas gauge. Hopefully, that will be an easy fix. Other than that, there doesn’t seem to be anything that needs to be addressed with regard to the interior.
Overall, it looks like the wood is in great shape, which is a big plus. A restoration bill on a woody wagon can be very expensive. The cost of high-quality wood combined with expert woodworking craftsmanship needed for a quality restoration can add up very quickly. But this one looks good with regard to the interior, which has a ton of wood as well. You can see the door panel above along with trim is all wood. So, what do you think of this car? Is $35,000 a bargain?

Surf city here we come Jan and Dean 👍😂
I like it !
Yeah, no surf board hanging out the back? They had me and lost me.
Wonder how many forms and metal presses it took to make that awesome metal tailgate in the age of Truman? Looks like it could be made of fiberglass from more recent times. Very cool automobile.
Love it.
The dash alone is worthy of it’s own art exhibit.
There’s just something about real wood cars that is just too cool. This one looks like a minor amount of work would get it caught up on maintenance. Great find.
I love woodies, but can’t get over the white paint with the wood. No offense, but it looks like the Michelin Man dressed in lederhosen.
