White Stallion: 1966 Ford Bronco U13 Roadster
With 2 days remaining in the auction, this 1966 Ford Bronco (U13) is being sold here on eBay with a reserve price that has not been met. The current bid price is a whopping $44,600 for a rotisserie restored example. The Bronco is located in Belvidere, New Jersey. The odometer reflects just over 37,000 miles. The Bronco came in three configurations including the two door wagon, half cab pickup and open body roadster.
I don’t think I have ever seen an early Bronco this nice. This would look great at a parade or driving to Cars & Coffee on the weekend. The exterior is painted in Wimbledon white with a matching interior. The original Kelsey-Hayes wheels have been powder coated to match. Even the original hubcaps have been restored.
I can’t seem to find anything a miss with this mint condition Bronco. The bumpers have been rechromed and it appears to be in rust free condition. The seller states that the rear quarters were cut when he got it and so he replaced them. The truck is fitted with the base 170 cubic inch inline six cylinder engine and manual three speed transmission.
The Bronco retains its original California black plates and was orignally sold in Los Angeles, California. The production codes indicate the Bronco was built in September 1965 which was exactly 55 years ago. I only know this because I was born during the same month! So what will this baby ultimately sell for? I wonder what the reserve is set to?

I don’t have an estimate what this will get bid up to but it is going to be a big number. Even at that, I wonder if the seller will get out of the vehicle more than he has into it.
Who would have thought, back when these early Broncos were running around getting abused doing oil field and ranch duty, that they would become very collectible and people would be performing high-dollar restorations on them.

This is a great restoration. I learned yesterday that my closest Bronco friend found and rescued this one back in ’04 or ’05 and owned it for a short while. It had cut rear quarters at that time and had been owned by a winery for a long time.
Stripped as they get. That is why it is so lovable. I remember those locking hubs. I hated those locking hubs. LOL.
Beautiful restoration. A few incorrect parts if you are a Purest. Otherwise Im with the rest of you, its going to go for big $$$ They should have listed it on Bring a Trailer, most bone stock ones are going in the mid $60K range. We will have to wait and see where this one end up.
I see the jack bracket that should be black. What else is incorrect?
Seeing a stock bronco this nice makes me happy. Great ride. Keep them stock if you can. No clue where the price will end up on this.
“Green Acres is the place to be”,,,I swear, I must be the oldest one here. The roadster Bronco was the 1st rendition most of us saw. Mr. Kimball, (Alvy Moore), the bumbling county agent, drove a new ’66 Bronco roadster as his 2nd vehicle, a CJ Jeep was the 1st. Ford was the sponsor of the show, which, at the time, was huge, what better place to debut the new Bronco. Obviously, it was just what the CJ, Scout crowd was looking for, and an instant hit. Old Hank must be spinning in his grave, seeing what he started and where it went. As usual,I don’t care if it has the plastic on the seats,( which it almost does),they’re nuts.
And to think the soon-to-be-released 2021 Bronco will start at much less than this will end up selling for…..crazy!
I’ve never cared for these small Broncos…or Jeeps, or the small IH Scouts. I also can’t understand why the prices have shot to the moon on them. On the other hand, just because I don’t care for them doesn’t mean that others can’t or shouldn’t. If this is what you like and you can afford one, more power to you. In my opinion, the best thing about the old car hobby is the variation of tastes. God knows that there are many people who don’t get my addiction to stock, long bed GM square body pickups. To each their own.

No, nota stripper – pass seat is there (& both buckets), 2 rear views, the bulkhead (only w/a frnt bench). Stuff that don’t really matter (unless goin Concourse correct). And probably unknown to any but long term owners…
