WANTED: 1963 Ford Falcon Super Deluxe Squire Wagon

Disclosure: This site may receive compensation from some link clicks and purchases.

Reader John L is looking for a specific car, well sort of. He’s on the hunt for a ’63 Ford Falcon Squire Wagon in the rare 71D body code. He found one while searching the web and is hoping someone can put him in touch with the owner of the one you see above. If you don’t know anything about this particular car, but know of a different Super Deluxe Squire Wagon, he’d love to hear from you! You can leave any info you have in the comments or contact John via his info below.

From John – I am searching for a 1963 Ford Falcon Super Deluxe Squire Wagon, body code 71D, and I need your help. To say they are hard to find would be an understatement. According to falconregistry.com, there were 1,461 Falcons built in 1963 with the body code of 71D. Of that number, only three Squires, with that body code, are listed on their site and none of them are for sale. Through searching Google, I found a webpage from 2009 with a picture of a beautiful black 1963 Falcon Super Deluxe Squire. On the webpage from 2009 I found a picture of the Squire with the following caption: “1 OF 80” is the Florida license plate on this 1963 Ford Falcon Squire station wagon owned by Tammy Bennett. A sporty red interior has bucket seats divided by a center console, an AM radio and a factory A/C unit mounted under the dash. A roof-mounted luggage rack, wood grain sides along with deluxe wheel covers and whitewall tires enhance the black exterior, and power comes from a 260-cubic inch V-8 engine hooked up to an automatic transmission. I am hoping that someone will recognize the car, the owner’s name, or even the face of the person in the picture. Even if the car is not for sale, I’d like to know I found it so I can put the matter to rest. Feel free to contact me at 408-628-7397 if you have anything to share about this beautiful Squire or any other for that matter.

If you have one or know of one that’s for sale, please let him know by replying in the comments section below. Even if you don’t have a lead, feel free to help out by searching your local craigslist, classifieds, etc. and posting what you find below. Also, if you are looking for something in particular yourself, please consider running a Want Ad here on the site so we can all try to help you find it. Happy hunting!

Sorry, Josh, but if I knew of a similar Falcon — preferably without the wood side trim — I’d be trying to buy it!

These are neat little wagons, and with the 260 underhood one would check a lot of boxes on my wish list. If Ford made any with four-speed manuals, that would be just about perfect!

I hope John L finds one!

That’s just a voluntary registry, Mountainwoodie. One has to be interested in registering their Falcon, have online access, and be somewhat of a social person! Who knows, maybe the owner is an 80 year old Ford guy who prefers to remain anonymous. By the way, Barn Finds featured a junkyard sometime in the past 12 months that contained a Falcon Country Squire. But it was the later, 1964+ style and in incredibly rough shape. I seem it was sitting among a bunch of K-cars and big Chevy sedans.

Fun car no doubt. Last time I saw one was on Wayne Craini’s show….think he bought it as a package with a VW.

As far as I know it’s still for sale, asking $55K.

This sounds like a car I restored about 10 years ago and sold to a guy from Florida. Did not realize how rare it was or I would not have sold it. The car originally came from Denison, Texas and I found it at a local bail bondsman’s place of business. It had been forfeited for bail. I drove the car home, put new black paint, new red bucket seat interior, new carpet, and new woodgrain vinyl on it. Car was loaded for a Falcon: 260 V8, automatic, Futura center console and red bucket seats, power steering, rooftop luggage rack, full wheel covers, AM radio, and electric clock. No air conditioner at that time. I do not recall the name of the man from Florida whom I sold it to. Would gladly buy the car back today if it could be located.

The posting was from 2009 which kind of makes sense. Does the name Tammy Bennett sound familiar? How much did you sell the restored car for?

I think I sold it for around $7000. Never heard of Tammy Bennett. I sold it to a middle-aged guy from south Florida. He towed it home with a tow bar behind a 302-powered Fairmont or LTD II.

A rare one for sure. If another rarity might interest you, I have a 1960 Mercury Comet 4 door wagon for sale. It is not a stock build, with 302 & 5 speed, custom green and silver paint, new interior, lowered suspension. Very sanitary build that runs great. See it on http://www.nextstepprosales.com. $19,900.

I had a 63 falcon wagon that I sold back about 1980. The body was solid, Blue interior, good running car but it had a lot of blow by so it was embarrassing to drive around in. When I sold it I had two guys fighting over it. I often think of that car now a days and wish that I had kept it.

I still have my 63 Falcon Deluxe 71B 4 door station wagon that was recently shown on Barn Finds for the Woodboats auction. There were quite a few people at the auction but most kept their hands in their pockets for the afternoon. Email for details.
