Time Capsule 1977 GMC G25 Vandura
As the seller states, “everything on this van is straight from the 70’s.” The only thing it needs is side-pipes (well, in my opinion) to complete the look. Back when vannin’ was the fad, a short wheelbase custom van like this was the bee’s knees and this example has been preserved as a time capsule directly back to the late 1970s. This Vandura checks every custom van item off of my personal list (aside from side-pipes) right down to the funky Vandura fender emblems. Though custom vans aren’t quite making a resurgence in popularity, original examples from the era are climbing in value and becoming collectible. Find this sweet wagon here on eBay in Arizona with bidding at $4,550 and reserve not met.
Bed? Check.Wood panelling? Definitely check. Reflective minifridge housed in a minibar? Double check. Shag carpet? Oh yeah, plenty. Some folks may cringe at the sight of this van but many enthusiasts of all ages drool over preserved examples like this. No, it isn’t factory original, but to see a period-modified custom van like this in its unmolested original form is just as good to some of us!
Everything in this GMC is either wood paneling, or shag carpet–just the way it should be! The captain’s chairs have funky insert patterns and fuzzy armrest covers. It even has a small television, not to mention aftermarket period air conditioning (plus that neat little wall-mounted fan). According to the ad, the minifridge uses blocks of ice to keep things cool.
Look how inviting it looks; like a living room on wheels! Slotted mags, funky graphics, and the original Chevrolet 350 V8 make for a classic custom van and a smooth ride. This will make either a great cruiser or event vehicle for someone who appreciates vans, and marks a time in history that has long since passed. I would love to see this van in my driveway…how about you?

If those walls could talk,lol.Heh-heh-heh😉👅💋
Not much talking, some heavy breathing maybe.
I dig it!
Groovy!
You could give a girl a ride in your wagon.
I’ll never understand short bed pickup trucks or short vans…If I buy a vehicle like this I want some room
The limited volume was intentional to restrict the escape paths.
Where’s the, “FREE CANDY,” sign????
“If the vans a rock’n don’t come a knock’n”. !
Popular during the 80’s but absolutely worthless in the deep south.
The A/C would barely cool the van, same system a standard cab truck used, and that was while the engine was running.
Turn the engine off and crash out in the bed, death could occur a few hours later from heat stroke. Ask me how I know..
Today, small generators and a roof top A/C are affordable.
It’s a cool van but the whitewalls would have to go.
You have died from heat stroke!?!?😜
Agree Gasser Man, it needs some big and little raised white letter tires to complete the look.
In the 70’s the very back row at the Drive In was full of these vans and if you dared to walk down that row the air you breathed would give you the munchies by the time you got to the concession stand.
I still remember the Chevy van song . . . .
‘Cause like a picture she was laying there
Moonlight dancing off her hair
She woke up and took me by the hand
She’s gonna love me in my Chevy van
And that’s all right with me
wasn’t it “we made love in my Chevy van?”
Sorry but if the “minifridge” uses blocks of ice it’s not a “fridge” it’s a “cooler.” Otherwise known as “pointless.” Luckily secondhand 12v RV fridges can be had for pocket change. Cool van otherwise.
A friend of mine had a van like this back 20 or so years ago. More than once I fell out the back door after a good night of beer drinking with a designated driver of course.
Nice, nice, nice! I have a 1974 VanDura Type II ambulance that was built by an ambulance builder in OK, and served the small town of Taloga, OK for several years before being traded to an ambulance dealer near Ft.Worth in 2002. I ran a standby ambulance service for the better part of 20 years in Lubbock, and then moved the operation to Midland in the early 90s; but shut things down for a while. But in ’02 I started up the service again by buying the VanDura along with an ’84 Chevy G30 Type II van ambulance from the dealer mentioned above. Both vans had less than 50,000 mi. on them when I bought them. Unfortunately ill health forced me to shut the service down again in 2005; but I still have both vans. My best friend’s stepson has listed the Chevy van on Craig’s List; but I won’t part with the little VanDura.
This site always brings back memories of a fun and less responsible time of my life
Sides pipes? Absolutely. But for me, it also requires a chain steering wheel.
I bet you never caught your finger in that chain steering wheel!
Sold for $8,500
nice van man
