The Chicken Coop Stash Is Up For Auction!
Back in 2017, we featured Reader Chris T’s massive stash of Morris Minors, plus his other classics. Well, he’s decided to move to Mexico to retire so everything needs to go! Rather than try to find a buyer that wants the entire collection, he’s auctioning things off individually here on Orbitbid. Everything can be found in Richmond, California and the auctions end on September 24th. So check it out and if you were looking to buy just one of his Morris Minors, here’s your chance!
Chris has pulled all of the cars out of the chicken coop and his barn, so we can have a better look at them. It also turns out he has a lot more than just Morris Minors, he has some really cool muscle cars as well! Check out this Road Runner project, it’s packing a 383 and a 4-speed with bidding starting at just $100.
There’s also a Camaro Convertible project that’s definitely worth a closer look. It’s an RS/SS with shipped with a 350 V8, automatic transmission and AC. Unfortunately, it isn’t currently running and has some body damage, but with a starting bid of $1,000 it looks like it could be a good one to watch. You can take a closer look at it here.
Not only does Chris have a lot of cars, but he’s got tons of spare parts and lots of great automobilia! It might be a bit of a challenge to find homes for all of the Morris Minor parts, simply given the sheer volume. Thankfully, he’s starting most of the parts as lots with opening bids of just $5, so I’m sure there will be lots of great deals here for anyone that needs parts!
There are more than a few finds here that I’m going to be keeping an eye on as this auction unfolds. Since Chris is a reader here, feel free to leave any questions down in the comments! So, which of these vehicles, parts, and signs would you’d love to have?

They will either sell for pennies on the dollar or not sell. Good luck getting the ones with no front axels out .Better have the number of a scrap dealer handy ))
The preview open to the public is on Monday the 23rd, otherwise it’s by appointment only. That’s not exactly seller friendly. I’d be interested in a few pieces of memorabilia except I’d have to take a day off of work to look everything over, that’s just not feasible.

Since I live on the property I can accommodate almost anytime appointment. Just get my number off the site since I don’t think that I can post it here and gimme a call and we’ll set something up!
I recognize that Morris Traveler! I met Chris at the
British Car magazine run to Half Moon Bay,when I drove my
Cortina MKIII there.
You have a North American spec Mk 3 Cortina? Been looking out for one here in Canada but no luck. Do you have any pics of yours on line?
How little you know about Mexico kind sir, do not believe the propaganda. And trust me, it is. Its a country full of good decent people no different than America with corrupt leaders, corrupt cops, drug dealers in some areas and mostly full of civilization not that different from where you live. Oh, and I happen to live in Topeka and its no different than most cities, good and bad areas, good and bad people.
RHD manual Mercedes Wagon? YES PLEASE! Starting bid of $5000? Wonder what it’ll go for???
Make an offer! I was thinking of taking it with me but importing cars to Mexico seems to be a bit cumbersome.
Unfortunately, this is typical hoarder mentality. Collect scads of whatever floats your boat, then expect everything to sell at auction in a single day. If the owner had activity sold his parts and projects over the past 20 years, the stuff would have met the needs of hundreds of restorers and been put to good use. As it is, I would not be surprised if a lot of this stuff got scrapped. :o/
Well…I had a different business plan in mind when these little cars started to reproduce but have since decided against building ‘new\old’ Minors and while a lot of parts have sold over the last year or so since I made this decision to move I still have tons of parts left.
I have to sell off all of my collectibles since I’m finding it cumbersome to move it all to Mexico even though I would like to plus I don’t have a 10k square foot warehouse down here either!!
Why are you on the other coast!? I would kill to have one of those commercial wagons! What would it cost to ship to Ohio? Any ideas?
It would not actually be terrible. I sold a Woodie recently to a guy in South Carolina I believe and he was able to get it done for about $1500 or something. If you use U-Ship.com you can enter my zip 94804 and yours and have people bid on it as a non-running roller and they will send you pricing, of course the longer you let the bid run the better the price. My guess is around $11-1300
Hi Chris- anything left? Looking for another posture van (we bought Funk’s) and othe Morris bits…
Still have maybe 9 vehicles left and tons of parts and I hope that some get rescued this week as I’ve already started to get them ready for the shredder. I am starting to take loads tomorrow, this is my last week. Please contact me immediately if you would like to chat.
Hi Chris, I bought the Traveller in the rain last year with my brother and son. Is everything gone?
Oh nooooo….still have like 10 vehicles and tons of parts. Gimme a call if you need anything. I’ve already moved to Mexico but Greg is still there to assist in people picking up stuff or cars.
I will have to start taking loads to the recycler though here after the holidays so you have a couple of weeks.
