Texas Collection: Fords, Chevrolets, and More!
It’s kind of sad when you see someone selling off a collection of cars. Especially when they appear to be prized possessions that have been kept in a museum-like environment. But it’s not such a teary occasion when you see that they may have all lived outdoors and are in differing states of preservation. In this case, the “collection” covers 14 vehicles that go back to 1955, but also as recently as 2008. Not much information is provided about each one, so interested parties will have to do their homework. From a location southwest of San Antonio, these vehicles are available here on craigslist from $3,500 to $58,000, depending on your pleasure. Our thanks to Chuck Foster for this tip.
These cars each get a one-line description and two photos at best. Four Chevies, four Fords, and one each of most everything else. Muscle cars, sports cars, pony cars, imports, and trucks – they’re all represented here, listed in chronological order. As the seller says, “the cars are for sale, not on sale.”
1955 Chevrolet Bel Air – modern 307 cubic-inch V8 with a TH-350 transmission – needs cosmetic restoration — $17,000
1962 Ford Galaxie 500 – looks like a 1964 model to me and no mention is made regarding the drivetrain – a total project car — $3,500
1970 Chevrolet Corvette – seller says it has a 496 V8 but does he/she mean a 396 with a 4-speed manual — $42,000
1970 Ford Mustang – this one is a fastback that looks like its set up for speed – has a 351 V8 with a 4-speed manual — $32,000
1971 Chevrolet Chevelle – looks like someone was trying to turn it into an SS – 350 V8 with a TH-350 tranny – may need body work — $18,000
1972 Plymouth ‘Cuda – this may be one of the gems in the group and looks like it’s been restored – 340 V8 with a 4-speed gearbox — $40,000
1974 Dodge Charger – has a 440 V8 but it is the period correct detuned 440 V8 or something more potent – 727 automatic transmission — $20,000
1979 International Scout II – a bit of a rare find – 304 V8 suggests it’s an AMC motor with automatic transmission – no direct photo provided (was it shy?) — $37,000
1979 Pontiac Trans AM – has a 455 V8 with a TH-400 automatic – looks like it has paint issues on the hood which could explain the price — $16,000
1985 Chevrolet Camaro IROC – not as potent as the 1970s with a 305 V8 and TH-350 automatic (more show than go) — $11,000
1988 Mercedes-Benz – not sure of the model, but at least it’s a coupe – looks like there is some rust to deal with – V8 engine (?) with an automatic — $12,000
1991 Porsche – looks like a 928 model — no details offered and only one photo — $6,500
1994 Ford F350 – workhorse pickup with a 7.3-liter v8 and automatic transmission — $15,000
2008 Ford F650 — here’s the Mac Daddy in the bunch in term of both size and price — 6.7-liter Cummins diesel with an automatic — $58,000

Comments
Most definitely a ’64 Galaxie.
And with its front end sitting up like that, looks like there is no drivetrain to speak of…
I think the hood issues with the TA may be reflections of the clouds on the hood. if you look close it appears to be that.
The Porsche is a 944…..
The 304 V8 in the Scout is an International Harvester engine. Not AMC.
Gone!
Not gone…listing has expired…..call them if interested..lots of good projects there!!!
And how exactly is someone going to call the seller if the posting is expired and no longer visible? All the contact information is gone. Or is there a way to be able to see an expired listing?
Why would the F-650 come with a Cummins? Is that stock? Quite a beast.
