Two-Owner Tiptop 1967 Ford Galaxie 500 Convertible

Disclosure: This site may receive compensation from some link clicks and purchases.

If you’re going to advertise a 55-year-old, two-owner Florida car for sale, it doesn’t hurt to show photos that includes sunshine, palm trees, water, and at center stage: a stunning turquoise on turquoise 1967 Ford Galaxie 500 convertible. I’ve always liked the styling of the ’67 full-size Fords and this is about the most desirable one I’ve ever encountered. Located in Ormond Beach, Florida, this beach beauty is for sale here on eBay with a BIN price of $23,500 or make an offer. As of this writing, this looker had garnered 63 watchers.

Not much history is shared but the seller claims it’s a two-owner Florida car and the second owner purchased it in 1973. With a little paint chip detective work, it appears to be finished in an appropriate color choice: Clearwater Aqua Metallic. The seller says it’s had “probably one repaint many moons ago” and it looks very presentable as does the chrome and trim, and there’s no sign of rust. There’s one photo of the Ford with the white convertible top up and the seller states, “The top is brand new as is the boot. Top cylinders are brand new and the top works great.”

Inside you’ll find a tasteful, great looking, color-coordinated interior that comes across as nearly flawless. I like the addition of the black trim and inserts into those pleated vinyl seats and the bright metal shield on the sides of the front seats gives it some flair. I also like the “Lift-Tab” door handles and the new for ’67 steering wheel and dash. Increased safety was a Ford selling point in ’67, and the interior included  an “impact-absorbing steering wheel with a vinyl-covered padded hub and extra padding on top of the dash, armrests, and visitors.”

Under that long Clearwater Aqua Metallic hood rests a 390-cubic inch Thunderbird V8 which has been converted to fuel injection. The seller says it was rebuilt at some time and currently shows 111,465 on the odometer. The automatic transmission has also been rebuilt and receipts are included. The seller states that “Car runs excellent! Front end is tight, and the brakes are smooth.” At $3,003, the Galaxie 500 convertible was the most expensive of the line by about 10%. And of the 403,606 Galaxie 500’s produced for the 1967 model year, only about 19.000 convertibles rolled off the assembly line. Compared to 1966, the restyled ’67 was a few inches longer and definitely had smoother, flowing lines and is still one good-looking car. I envy the next owner of this beautiful convertible. They’ll definitely be enjoying full-size Ford fun in the sun!

It sold for 23K. The auction is over. Nice vehicle and not a bad price.

In believe there’s a misprint on the engine size and that it’s probably a 390, Ford never made a490.

D’Oh! Dang fat fingers. Just knocked 100 cubic inches off to make it a 390. Thanks.

Somebody added a High Performance 390 air cleaner decal; the VIN codes out as a 390 2bbl. Easy to add, looked like they did it during the rebuild – if going by looks! Ha! Plenty of torque with that 390, regardless of carburetor.

A very nice car, well-presented. Clearwater Aqua just looks right on this model, including inside. The new owner can look forward to some summer cruising fun.

Tie a yellow ribbon around the old oak tree, I’m coming home baby. Will you be waiting for me when I get there in this beautiful Ford convertible? Forget about the bus Gus, I’m riding in style and loving every mile. Miami to Houston about 1200 miles, what nice trip that would be. Top down, top up loads of fun grinning from ear to ear. One stop in Dalton Georgia to visit my brother. Now I’m beaming with pride and shouting from the rooftops look at this beautiful convertible from yesteryear. What a dream, mile after mile, tank after tank, hotels and motels by the road side, fast food joints and conversations all along the way.

    God Bless America
