Unmodified Driver: 1991 Honda CR-X Si

Disclosure: This site may receive compensation from some link clicks and purchases.

When speaking about nimble and fun-to-drive compact sports cars, it would be wrong not to mention Honda’s CR-X. Clean examples of the hatchback are hard to come by these days, but this unmodified 1991 Honda CR-X Si that is available here on eBay shows that well-kept examples of the beloved CR-X are still out there.

This CR-X Si is available in San Gabriel, California with a clean title. Interestingly, Honda collector and racing icon Peter Cunningham formerly owned the vehicle, and before his ownership, the vehicle spent time in Florida.

There are a few minor flaws in the paint on the roof, but otherwise, the Rio Red color remains as sharp as ever and the chassis is rust-free. Unfortunately, the vehicle was in an accident in 2007 and also received an exterior paint respray at one point, but there is no damage to its unibody and there are no severe scratches, dents, or paint chips.

Just like the exterior, the cabin of this CR-X is also in impressive shape. There is some minor wear, but overall, this interior is very tidy.

Under the hood, you’ll find a 1.6-liter 4-cylinder engine, which pairs to a 5-speed manual transmission to drive the front wheels. The drivetrain has 148,700 miles on it, and it features recent maintenance items such as a new timing belt, water pump, valve cover set, alternator belt, A/C belt, and fresh coolant. Additionally, the engine received a compression and leak-down test earlier this year, which resulted in perfect results across all four cylinders.

The Buy it Now price for this handsome Honda is $8,995, though the seller is accepting reasonable offers. Would you add this unmolested CR-X Si to your collection?

Try finding an unmodified CRX with fewer miles for less. Most were “tuned” or driven into the ground so finding one that’s original with less than a quarter-million miles is noteworthy.

I want to agree with Keith, it seems insane for a CRX but these are thin on the ground as it is and you never see them in this condition anymore. Fun little cars, my buddy had one around ’96 or so.

Yeah, I don’t see the value at all in this? You could buy a pristine low mileage mid 90’s Miata for this, or less. Maybe $3500? That’s pushing it. It’s been on an accident and has some mikes.

Search BAT and see how much some have sold for recently. Have your hand propped underneath your jaw and your elbow firmly on a table.

Bid to $9k on Bring a Trailer on 9/30, reserve not met. Now $5 off.
(Looks tempting as replacement for my ’88 Si with over 238k. :/ )

    An ’88 Si with 50k odo went for $16k, an ’89 w/ 27k got $27.5k & a ’91 w/ 33k got…$33.6k!

I never owned one of these but I did drive a few modified and stock..they were tighter handling than the mini cooper to me. This one is a bit pricey but a nice car though

It’s a decent price but the accident and respray prevents it from bringing the real money

My first car was a ’91 Civic Si bought new. I believe it shared the same motor as this CRX. I had many good years in it and a memorable Chicago to New Mexico and back run. Great car… bullet proof, nice handling and quick enough to fun.

One of my best friends put over 500K miles on his before a second deer strike prompted him to abandon it. This car is barely broken in at 150K; in fact, with that mileage, you can probably be sure it will go the next 400K.
