Tribute cars can be somewhat contentious among certain groups such as collectors who prize originality, but I think this 1972 Plymouth Satellite – Road Runner Tribute car looks great. I mean, how can this classic 1970s green color on a 1970s Plymouth not look great? The seller has this one posted here on craigslist in Montpelier, Vermont and they’re asking $17,500. I believe this is Amber Sherwood Metallic and it’s one of two classic 1970s green Mopar colors I’d want on a Satellite, or even on a Road Runner tribute car. Heck, I’d like this car if it had four doors. It appears to be a base model Plymouth Satellite, evidenced by a lack of exterior “bright” trim. It’s a very crisp and clean look. It’s nice that the owner, or former owner, or whoever did the work on this car, didn’t give it an over-the-top Road Runner graphics treatment, but that’s just me. The wheels and tires are spot on, in my opinion and the seller’s list of work that’s been done is extensive, please read the craigslist ad for the scoop.

This car looks really nice. The seller says it was originally a Mississippi car and it’s a “rust-free body and underside” as well as the trunk; although we don’t see photos of any of those areas, unfortunately. They do show a few detailed photos and it looks rock solid. I’m assuming this car has been repainted although they don’t mention that in their mostly ALL-CAPS listing that I can see. It’s more of a base Satellite Coupe than Road Runner, at least exterior-wise. Hagerty is at $16,100 for a #2 excellent Satellite and $28,900 for a Road Runner.

The interior has been redone, as well as having a new windshield. This isn’t a hairy-chest four-on-the-floor, it’s a 904 automatic with a column selector, perfect for a Satellite but maybe not for a Road Runner tribute. it looks basically like new inside other than some light wear to the silver-painted trim around the dashboard area. A knowledgeable reader here on Barn Finds told me to use a silver marker/pen to touch that up on my little Dodge pickup and I have yet to try it, but I think it would work great here.

The engine looks spotless and is apparently a 340-cu.in. OHV V8, which if this was an actual Road Runner would have had 240 horsepower and 290 lb-ft of torque. We don’t know what upgrades this one has other than dress-up parts but it sure looks great and I’m sure will spin the rear tires appropriately. The level of work done on this car, even the underside of the hood, tells me that the seller’s asking price isn’t that bad, what do you think?
