Roadside Sighting: 1970 Dodge Challenger
Reader Adam C spotted a Mopar parked in a backyard and he just couldn’t miss the opportunity to snap a photo of it. This Challenger is sadly sitting out in the rain but doesn’t look too rusty yet. It also looks like it has a few custom parts on it, but it sure would be interesting to know what is under the hood! From Adam C – Found what looks like a ‘70 Challenger Park in a field in Chautauqua County, NY. My dream car!
Our thanks to Adam for sending his sighting in! And like always, if you spot a cool classic parked, be sure to snap and send us some photos! You can email them to us at [email protected].

T/A hood and spoiler….better check that one out further !!!!!!!!!!
You’re right about the hood and spoiler, however, the exhaust appears to be behind the tire.
Appears to be a driver to boot! Would like to hear the story of this one.
@Lawrence-great eye!
Always honor “No Trespassing” signs, big snarling dogs and guns, not necessarily in that order. That aside, you never know until you inquire. I know of two instances where someone did not inquire about “the” vehicle they really hoped to find one day and did only see someone with the vehicles sometime later. Sometimes as a friend of mine found out people just won’t sell a car to a particular individual. I guess it’s just a chemistry thing at times.
And that’s why you always go check out a car if it really
interests you – nothing hurts more than to see your Friend driving it
around,& then tells you that he got a great deal on it.
True 70’s styling, where it was cool to have different style wheels on the front and back.
If, big “if” , it’s a real T/A Challenger, this is way cool. Experience would suggest that a car this old sitting outside in New York may be closer to earth than to the show circuit. And given the lack of body stripes, miss matched wheels etc., it may be a rather pedestrian car. Interesting to find out.
It’s sure nice to see a Challenger or ‘cuda that isn’t a complete rust bucket for a change. For some reason I get the feeling there is no more than a 318 under that cool hood, just a hunch.
Thank You Barn Finds for finally putting a Mopar on here that isn’t completely rusted and destroyed. That seems to be your M.O. lately. I see toasted Camaros and Mustangs all the time that look horrible too. Mopar bashing is the latest craze. When I take my Challenger to car shows, Chevy guys practically spit on it. I love all cars and wish people could just enjoy the differences and uniqueness of every car…..well, maybe not Yugos.
Regardless of the brand, it’s good to see them on the road or at a car show. In fact I appreciate one that sees the road a whole lot more than those that are pampered in the garage and trailered to show it. Cars, whether old or new are there to be driven and appreciated. Sometimes just seeing something driving around is worth the time and effort to go see them.
PS With only 1 shot it’s hard to tell but regardless it’s good to see this apparently out and about.
My 2 cents.
I agree with you 86 Vette convertible. I’m probably lucky that I’m a brokester because if I had any kind of Big money & could afford buying “PRICELESS MUSEUM CARS” I’d probably be ostracized by the people who think cars oughta be looked at and not driven. THEY WERE MEANT TO BE DRIVEN. SO DRIVE EM.
