Respectable 1970 Dodge Adventurer Sweptline
Dodge trucks have quite the niche following. One of the generations that are not seen as often is the D series from the late 60’s early 70’s. That is what makes this 1970 Dodge Adventurer Sweptline for sale at a starting bid of $3,950 so cool. It is located in Evanston, Illinois with a VIN listed, clear title, and 100,646 miles. You can view more on eBay.
The listing is full of mechanical information about the truck. The 383 cubic inch, V8 big block is connected to an automatic transmission. Tasks that the owner has completed are installing a new timing chain, water pump, belts and hoses, electronic ignition system from Mopar, and a two-barrel carburetor just to name a few things. There are some issues with the electrical system of the truck, notably in the brake lights.
Inside is a stark contrast to the exterior. The seats have been completely and professionally reupholstered right back to factory correct colors. The door panels, dash pad, and sun visors also match the seats. Unfortunately, there is no headliner, but the seller says they do have leftover vinyl from the seats that could be used. They also note that the photos of the dash on the floor are because of cleaning.
The photos do speak volumes for this truck. Everything seems to match what the seller describes, it isn’t often that happens. The seller also has a link to a video of the truck running that you can watch. With no reserve price and such a respectable open bid, this truck has the potential to become quite high in price. This would be one truck that if I had funds for, I would put in a bid for. I am one of those Dodge truck fans.

These things had a niche alright–they had
styling that only an ugly truvk fancier could love. But what they lacked in style,
they made up for it in toughness. Some-
one will be getting a great truck once
they put in a new brake light switch!
Cool as hell and I wouldn’t mind having that exact year, as it was the last year run for that gen, and had the improved front suspension. With a 383, how could one go wrong? Look for the Don Knotts The Dude endorsement.
Well, the seller sure sounds convincing, but I question what a west coast truck with Wisconsin collector plates, is doing in Illinois. Just by looking at it, it’s got all the characteristics of a Wisconsin truck. West coast trucks don’t rust like that. It’s not a bad truck, just not what the seller is saying it is.
I got one of those. I drive it everyday with my bicycle in the back heading for the bicycle trail here in Oceanside, California. I also have a 66 Chevy pickup and had a 1972 Ford pickup. These Dodge trucks are very basic compared to the Chevy and Ford and don’t drive as easily or ride as smooth as them.
Otherwise, it gets me to the trail everyday with no problems.
my brother restored a 66 d100 short bed 2wd painted it black put a ray Barton 528 hemi 750 hp pump gas. heidts rack front suspension Dana 60 rear. ran 10.37 at 127.00 mph. it was a real attention getter.!!! he turned a supposed ugly duckling into a real head Turner.!!!
Looks like not the original engine, if that matters to anyone. Wouldn’t to me, I guess, at that price.
