Reasonably Priced: 1977 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme

This 1977 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme Brougham has been for sale for a while. This new ad is listed here on Craigslist for the past 6 days. The car is located in Reno, Nevada and looks in good shape even though it has 137,000 miles on the car. Oldsmobile’s from the late 1970’s may not be fast but they were known for their reliability. Plus the 1977 Cutlass was one of the best selling cars of the 1970’s with over 437,000 units sold. The seller is asking $11,500 for this one.

This car is powered by the venerable Olds 350 cubic inch V8. You can always tell an Oldsmobile engine from other GM engines because the oil spout is on the front of the motor. I think it is a smart design. The car was rated at 175 horsepower when equipped with a 4 barrel carburetor but only 235 lb ft of torque. Most of these cars had highway gears in the rear end which made them nice cruisers but not much off the line.

This model comes equipped with power windows, seats, and locks along with a large cloth bench seat. The exterior paint is said to be Bright Red but it looks orange to me. The special fabric on the door panels looks fancy. I don’t remember that on any of the cars I rode in while in high school. My buddy, Scotty, had a 1979 Olds Cutlass that he bought new. Most of the girls in our high school drove early 1980’s Pontiac Grand Prixs. This Cutlass has its original 8-track stereo system along with air conditioning, heating, and cruise control for a comfortable driving experience. The seller states that the original spare tire and jack are in the trunk.

I am surprised that this car has not sold yet at this price. It is said to be garage-kept and boasts a rust-free exterior as well as a well-preserved interior, reflecting its meticulous upkeep over the years. While displaying minor signs of age, such as fading spots in the paint, the overall appearance remains clean and presentable. This 1977 Olds Cutlass is a timeless design that brings back a lot of good memories.
