Ready For Fun: 1975 International Scout II
This 1975 International Scout II has received only one bid here on eBay. This 4×4 is said to run great and appears to be in pretty good condition. Located in Bend, Oregon, the Scout II is currently bid to $8,995 with 5 days remaining in the auction. Three main versions of the Scout were produced by International Harvester between 1960 and 1980. The first Scouts (1960-1965) were called Scout 80 and were very utilitarian. The second generation of Scout was called the Scout 800, produced in three sub-models (800, 800A, and 800B). In 1971, the third generation model was a little more upscale and produced until 1980. It was called the Scout II (like this model).
The first generation Scout 80s were equipped with inline four-cylinder engines. The factory rated the 152 cubic inch 4-cylinder at 93 horsepower. This was also the base engine for the Scout 800, but it could also be ordered with a turbocharger, which upped the power to 111 horsepower. An optional 196 cubic inch inline 4-cylinder was introduced in 1966. Other optional engines included a 266 cubic inch V8 (1967), a 304 cubic inch V8 engine, a 345 cubic inch V8 engine (1971), and a 198 cubic inch diesel inline 6 (1976-1979) in second and third-generation Scouts. This 1975 Scout II has a 345 cubic inch V8 engine.
The interior looks standard and well-used in this example (cracked dash). The Scout II has seat covers and probably new door panels. The seller states that they have replaced the alternator, battery, radiator, carburetor, exhaust, and leaf springs. The fluids were changed, and the fuel tank and fuel lines were flushed out. This work was professionally done by a local shop. The V8 engine is shifted via a T19 4-speed manual transmission. The Scout II comes with a new steering wheel and dash pad that must be installed.
The Scout II does have some needs, including a wiring harness, and the body has some dents and dings. The paint is shiny, and the body is said to be 98% rust-free. The wheels and tires appear to be oversized and look great. I wonder if the truck has any wheel-well clearance issues. This early SUV is not getting much attention yet and may be a good buy.

Dents and dings = use it as intended. That’s how I like ’em.
