READER AD: 1980 BMW 633 CSi For $500

Disclosure: This site may receive compensation from some link clicks and purchases.

It has it’s bumps and bruises, but Reader Dean N’s BMW 633 CSI seems like a great buy if you are in the hunt for a GT project car! At $500 it would be worth buying simply for the parts, but as complete and original as it is, hopefully someone will save it. You can find it in Ridgeway, Colorado and you can reach Dean via his Craigslist ad here.

Asking Price: $500
Location: Ridgway, Colorado
Mileage: 110,980
Title Status: Clean
VIN: 5560436

Seller’s Description: It’s a fairly low mileage example of a car that you don’t see on the road much anymore. Too good of condition to scrap.

Body Condition: The body rust free, only damage is the passenger side rear fender at the tail light. Needs a paint job. there is fading on hood, roof, and trunk. Interior needs help. The front seats are cracked, rear is in good condition. The headliner is clean, moon roof operates, electric windows need work, dash has cracks, and all glass is good.

Mechanical Condition: The engine runs but needs a head gasket and some attention to wiring issues. The transmission is good, as are the brakes. The head gasket issue will require trailering the car.

That’s a deal and half. If you are into 633 CSI style BMWs this is either a great starting point or the ultimate parts car.

These were bad a$$ cars back in the day…remember the show Moonlighting.

One of my projects is to find some decent donor backseats and make a piece of furniture…they always looked comfy.

For the person looking for something like this – go for it. You aren’t going to get into similar for less IMO.

If this were in my neck of the woods, I’d already own it. Probably not to restore but the parts value is there.

Well well well I’d take the drivetrain out.restore it completely. Then put it up.Then I’d find some ole guys wrecked Corvette and show you guys what a real restomod looks like and runs like Carroll Sheldys cars did but I’d have it quiet running but run like lightning if you know what I mean.

probably has a cracked head, just maybe headgasket, or corroded around water ways in head, E12 based E24’s are getting very rare in Europe, I really prefer the 3.0Csi E9 models that preceded this model,

You could almost get that much just for the back seats. Guys that are customizing interiors for 2002s want these old 6-series backseat buckets.
