Real Deal? 1979 Dodge Warlock 4×4
The Lil’ Red Express got all the attention in 1978 and 1979 but Dodge truck fans could also order the Warlock edition. Seen here in a dilapidated state is a 1979 Dodge 4WD Warlock. The truck can be found here on eBay and is located in Leadville, Colorado, and has 4 days remaining in the auction. The truck is bid to $1,675 and it has not met its reserve.
The truck is equipped with Dodge’s 360 cubic inch V8 engine (5.9 liter) and a 4-speed manual transmission. The truck is said to run and drive. There is no odometer reading offered in the ad and the rear bed has deteriorated away. The truck was originally equipped with air conditioning and cruise control.
As reflected, the interior is worn evenly throughout and has bucket seats with a console. The truck is equipped with power steering and power brakes. The owner replaced both front fenders and the driver door that was rusty. There is also rust on the hood and cab. It does not appear that the truck has been stored indoors.
A new grill also comes with the purchase if the reserve is met. The Warlock was produced from 1977 to 1979 and a buyer could order the truck with Dodge’s slant six-cylinder or their choice of four different V8’s – the 318, 360, 400, or 440 cubic inch engines. Who is up for a complete restoration on this Warlock?

I have never seen one these with a factory 4-speed transmission. I thought the Pistol Grip 4-speed shifter in my bench seat ’70 RR was long, but I think this one wins hands down.
My brother n law bought new, a True Spirit. Have only seen two.
Warlock seems to be more common.
Snow on the mountains says why it’s rusty.
Actually Colorado does not use salt on their roads, so the rust is from something else.
I see an old yellow apache in the background
I had a ’78 Warlock with a 440″ in it, automatic 2 wheel drive, A/C, cruise control, nicely equipped, mostly all the Gold Striping on it had faded off of it but the Metallic Black paint was fine, the wood floor of the bed was nonexistent, gravity was the only thing holding the bed down. I loved that truck and how strong it ran, please excuse the poor picture.
That’s a 59 or 60 Dodge with another Dodge cab in the back not an Apache.
The yellow truck in the background looks like a 59 or 60 D 100 with another Powergiant cab in the bed.
If I didn’t already own both a 77 Warlock 4×4 and a 78 Lil Red, I’d be seriously considering this truck. I’ve never cared for the stacked headlights but I’ve also never seen one with a manual transmission. Right now, I’m looking for a Midnight Express to go with my Warlock and Lil Red…and my 1975 GMC limited trucks, Gentleman Jim and Beau James.
