Rare 2-Door: 1957 Cadillac Edorado Seville
While many enthusiasts focus on the Biarritz as one of the rarest Cadillacs produced in 1957, the Eldorado Seville doesn’t trail far behind. The company only produced 2,100 examples, and our feature car is a beauty. Faulting its presentation is difficult, while it carries all the hallmarks of a traditional luxury classic. The Seville has generated plenty of interest since the seller listed it here on eBay in Fruita, Colorado. Twenty-five bids have pushed the price beyond the reserve to $35,600.
The Third Generation Eldorado range only graced showrooms for two years, with our feature car emerging during the first year. Choosing a single outstanding feature is almost impossible because almost everything is a highlight. The Bahama Blue paint holds an impressive depth of color and shine, complemented by the flawless White vinyl top. The seller states it is rust-free, and there is certainly no evidence of significant corrosion in the supplied images. The panels are straight, with gaps that are as tight and consistent as you would expect from a Cadillac. The chrome and glass are excellent, but the wheels help this classic to genuinely “pop.” The Sabre-Spoke wheels were standard equipment on the ’57 Seville, but the first owner chose the optional Gold version to add a classy finishing touch.
Cadillac offered a single engine and transmission combination in the ’57 Seville, and it was pretty impressive. Buyers received the 365ci V8, producing 325hp and 425 ft/lbs of torque. Shifting duties fall to a four-speed Hydramatic transmission, while power assistance for the steering and brakes cement this car’s luxury credentials. The Seville might weigh 4,980 lbs, but that fantastic V8 endows it with surprising performance. The journey down the ¼-mile is largely irrelevant, although the ability to top 122mph on the open road confirms these classics can get up and moving if provoked. The engine bay presents as impressively as the rest of the Seville, but there are a few mysteries. The seller indicates the Caddy only recently came out of over thirty years of dry storage, so it is unclear whether it runs, drives, or is roadworthy. However, the seller is approachable and seems willing to answer questions about any aspect of this beauty.
This Cadillac ticks more boxes for many enthusiasts. Its seats feature immaculate Black leather covers, while the remaining upholstered surfaces are comfortably acceptable for a survivor-grade classic. The door trims feature a few wrinkles, but I believe they could be stretched into place. The carpet and dash are excellent, and the pad isn’t sun-ravaged. It is a Cadillac, so naturally, it is filled with creature comforts. The winning bidder receives air conditioning, power windows, a power front seat, a power trunk release, an Autronic eye, and a Wonderbar radio.
The bidding history on this 1957 Cadillac Seville confirms it has struck a chord with potential buyers. This is understandable because it is rare, luxurious, and presents impressively. Notwithstanding the question mark hanging over its mechanical health, based on recent successful sales, I expect the bidding to threaten $50,000 before the hammer falls. This is the peak of GM for me, and it is in fantastic original condition. I had the pleasure of using the ’58 version and it is perfectly capable for today. For a classic keeper it’s hard to beat, for cheap…..

Absolutely stunning car. Just as a thought experiment though, I think that boat tail rear end would look way cooler without the fins. I know it was the fifties.

Those cast aluminum rear bumpers need to be Inspected. Beware the exhaust exited through them and that corroded them. Also, gold Sabres, means gold grille to match. The vinyl tops were made from convertible top material. Just saying.
Funny you should mention the fins. Always thought the back end looked like a big Corvette with awkward fins glued on. Not my favorite Cadillac!

Peak ’57!
This is an Eldo. Shouldn’t it have multiple carburetion. I thought 57 was dual four barrels and 58 was tri-power.
My understanding also, but I seem to remember the other way around. ’tis a quandary!
The air cleaner is the tip off that something is amiss. This car should have had two four barrels and a twin snorkel air cleaner
Definitely not my favorite Cadillac. 58 Sixty Special in black took my eye as a teen. Have lusted after one of those ever since! Cadillac WAS The Standard of the WORLD. My 89 Brougham deElegance was the last of TRADITIONAL Cadillac elegance and CLASS. Subsequent 93 Brougham was a total disappointment. Subsequently moved on to LINCOLN…what a Luxury CAR should be and once was. Now even LINCOLN has turned to glorified trucks (SUVS),crossovers and melted jelly beans. Though not a favorite, this Eldorado is a great time capsule of an era unfortunately never to be seen again 😢

Beautiful Car, love the Bahama Blue. Would even be cooler with a white leather interior. It should have dual quads,, (WCFB’s) with the large gold triangle aircleaner with the oil bath pods at each corner, just like my ’56 Seville had. That’s why it has a later air cleaner of a ’64 or ’65.
It is a true dream car. I once owned a 58. So wish I could bring this one home. The price is really low so far.
