Solid Texas Tudor: 1936 Ford Project

Disclosure: This site may receive compensation from some link clicks and purchases.

There are some cars that have perfect patina and this may be one of the best. It is a 1936 Ford Tudor and can be found here on Craigslist with an asking price of $4,300. Located in Salisbury, Massachusetts, the car is said to originally be from Texas. Thanks to Barn Finds reader Peter R. for the tip on this awesome car!

This car appears to be very original. The interior upholstery has seen better days, but beyond that, everything looks decent. The original engine is missing, but the seller does have a “30s Ford V8 for it.” There also is no title, but the seller says they can prove the title is clear.

This era of cars has a great look. From the grille to the headlights and curved bumper, they were ahead of their time and continue to be timeless. While not quite as desirable in the hot rodding community as a 1932, 1936 was a great year. What do you think? Is this car worthy of a fresh lease on life?

I love it two door hump backs are right in there with coupés. Restore or rod well worth the green.

Please, let’s get over this patina thing. It’s rust, neglect and abandonment. Wire wheels on a 36?

You’re right Wayne, patina is faded original paint but still there. This thing has
rust. Fortunately it’s rust on metal that’s probably 12 Ga, so it can sit there for another 50 years and not rust through.

My friend has a 20,000 original mile 1954 Hudson Hornet that he inherited from his Great Grandmother in 1970 with all original paint. He fixed the rusty spots and matched the paint, but he won’t repaint it until he has to.

I have some friends who don’t like it, they think it should be repainted. I love the thing, it looks the same as it did when we drug it out of the shed/garage it was in with my 55 Willys wagon and flat towed it home 48 years ago. You can’t buy memories like that.

First of all they were never 12 gauge 18 gauge would be the thinnest they went and bare 18 gauge won’t last 50 years. This will look like picker Mikes VW van inside of ten year if left outside you know the part where there are big holes in the roof. Rust never sleeps and unless measures are taken now to save this car it won’t be long and it won’t be worth saving. I can’t stand this BS word ( patina ) this for starters is not patina its rust. Patina has got to be one of the most over used words in the English language, popularized by clowns like Mike and Frank. This word is getting old guys can we please move on from this nonsense.

You are not going to win, it’s a modern descriptive word. Just accept it as a horrible way to describe rust, and move along. Next.

Your right Ken it’s just irritating, its like watching a young guy reving his engine until the valves float ( irritating ).

Love Hudsons. I served my apprenticeship on them. Shame your friends one isn’t one year earlier. IMO the stylist got it wrong in 54. A shame, because it’s the last real Hudson.

Living in N.E.Ohio I’ve owned plenty of vehicles that were totally patina’d-out.

    Enough patina-talk.
This is a nice V8 Ford at a very good offered price. Take it or leave it…

No engine? I looked at the photos and saw the Ford flathead with the oil bath air cleaner under the hood. Hmmm…

I am curious as to the lever controls on the steering wheel on this 1936 Ford. Does a driver still have to control spark advance on these year autos ???
