SN95 Saleen: 1995 Ford Mustang S351

The SN95 Mustang has long been seen as the budget entry option into V8 Mustang ownership. The earlier Fox bodies are so desirable these days that a clean, survivor-grade GT will easily run you into the $20,000 range; the same goes for an SVT-built Cobra variant, which rarely sells for less than $30,000 these days. By comparison, the SN95 Cobra and Saleen models start to look like a relative bargain, even if they don’t yet have the old-school-cool appeal of a Fox body. This 1995 Mustang Saleen S351 is car number 111 of a limited production run and is listed here on eBay with bidding to $19,800 and the reserve unmet.

Saleen built any number of variants of the SN95 cars over the years, to the point that it can be somewhat hard to keep track of which model had which capabilities. they were all quick, but some were clearly more massaged than others. This example clearly falls into that category, as its previous owners have found ways to improve performance while preserving the Saleen-inspired aesthetic touches on the outside. The first owner was a 16-year-old that apparently had close ties to the “Shelby Race Team,” according to the seller, and as such, the Saleen was equipped with the best of the best options. Black Recaro seats, Alcon brakes, and the rare “Saleen Stereo” option.

The interior remains in excellent condition, with those optional Recaro seats looking no worse for the wear. The Saleen upgrades are visible throughout, such as the aluminum pedals, additional gauges, and the white-faced dials in the cluster. But it is surprising to see a mundane factory steering wheel in place, which wasn’t all that attractive to begin with. Despite being owned by a 16-year-old, the Saleen seems to have survived in good shape – but not without a blown engine in its history file. The engine has been rebuilt twice, once to fix the damage caused after throwing a rod, and the second time simply for the peace of mind of building the engine up to the third owner’s standards.

The seller contends the improvements made by both owners address shortcomings in the Saleen design. These include Vortech Ti trim; rebuilt 351; Trick Flow intake; Pro M management system; and a rebuilt transmission. The listing notes that the Saleen is quite fast, and with just under 34,000 miles, it’s barely broken in. While it has traded hands more than a few times, it seems like every owner has done what they can to make the car better and stronger each time. Whatever the sale price is, this SN95 will still look like a bargain compared to other cars with half of the performance credentials.

Up to $29,600 with an hour to go.

It just might eclipse that magic 30K number.
