A brightly colored classic is going to grab attention anywhere it goes, no matter what the car is. But this 1970 Plymouth Road Runner in Sassy Grass Green is especially going grab attention. At the time of writing the bid price is $12,012 with no reserve. The seller has posted the VIN in the listing, as well as indicate that the car has a clear title. It is located in West Babylon, New York. You can view more and bid here on eBay.

The seller notes that the 383 cubic inch big-block V8 engine runs strong and is connected to a 727 automatic transmission. Around back is a positraction, eight and three quarter’s rear end. You can see in the photos that the engine is clean and looks like it has been taken care of. Some maintenance and replacements have been made recently including new brakes and a new gas tank.

Inside, the car originally came with a bench seat up front but somewhere along the line, an owner thought it better to have bucket seats, so that is what they installed. One can imagine that might be the more popular ideal spec for this car, but it might be cool to source a new bench to put it back to original. Everything seems to be in great condition and the seller mentions that the floors are in good condition.

The Sassy Grass Green gives this car an incredible presence and retro aggression look. It is almost like the bright red, green, and orange exotics of today. Even in nature, normally the brightly colored living thing is the most dominant, most dangerous, most attention-grabbing being. Cars are no exception. While the automatic transmission might be a disappointment for performance, the car itself will still look and sound mean enough to make up for it.

Thank you, Fred. I’ve often wondered whether if it was a case where somebody got caught by someone pulling a fast one and if so, how, but your explanation makes it clear-the seller pulled a fast one on the eBay Monitors and don’t have to pay the fee now..
        Interesting.

I will never understand why you would switch out nice buckets for a bench. Just goes to prove that the hobby has become a rich mans play thing, not the pleasures of old. Who cares if it is original” ? Not like it was the original bench in it anyway, not that it should matter. What ever happened to function over style?

Sandy Claws – How does wanting to put a bench seat back in it prove the hobby has become a rich mans play thing ? Somebody might like that combination and get rid of the aftermarket floor shifter. These bucket seats and aftermarket floor shifter are function over style?

Why would anyone want an uncomfortable bench seat!
Thank the Lord for all those that ordered a Plymouth in SassyGrassGreen, I just cannot imagine a world with muscle cars without it! It is the coolest color ever!

Despite what I said above, there is ONE good reason for a bench seat besides having a pretty lady snuggled up close to you, that is….for all of us with amble back sides. I have sat in some modern buckets that pinched my rear so hard I thought I would leave with bruises.

No titles for 1972 & older vehicles in N Y S, only transferable registrations. 1973 was the first year that N.Y. issued titles.

Don’t care for those fruity colors, never did. These cars look stunning in a solid color, say black.

Where does that come from? Mr T., I just commented that I didn’t like the color. Though, I do find a lot of what SC says makes sense to me.

Bench seat or buckets whatever you prefer it’s a great car very clean and well cared for!! Cool color and set up to drive down the road!! I like the floor shifter it’s got now and I’d leave it alone!! It’s not like the owner did anything that couldn’t be undone!!

Seeing this car makes me laugh. Okay, I’ll fess up — it makes me cry. In the early 80s I had a 70 RR very similar to this one. base 383 car with a 3-speed floor-mounted manual trans, factory bucket seats, factory hood pins. Not much else. It was originally a light gold color but had been repainted white which looked pretty good. It was a LOT of fun to drive. When I went to college I tried to sell it via classified ads in the newspaper. I was asking $700. Got no offers. A few guys came to look at it but, ya know, it was just a 383 car. Time became an issue and I scrapped it, keeping only the hood and the engine (which I still have). If only I had stashed mine away.
