Success Story: Lotus Cortina Sold Within A Week!

Lotus Elan Sold

Disclosure: This site may receive compensation from some link clicks and purchases.

Last Sunday we featured a Lotus Cortina that was owned by the late Kevin Corcoran. It looked like a great car so we were happy when Andy, a friend who was helping Kevin’s wife with the sale, decided to list it for sale exclusively here on the site. It didn’t take long before Andy was fielding inquiries from all over the world. He decided to invite the most interested parties to inspect the car yesterday and by the end of an emotional day, this Lotus was sold! It went to a Barn Finds reader so hopefully they will keep us updated! Anyway, we are grateful for this opportunity and hope we can continue to help many more great cars find good homes. Thanks Andy!

Definitely a good outcome car story.

I have been out of the country, so didn’t see this Cortina until yesterday. Jim s’s comment yesterday on racing Cortinas cornering on 3 wheels sent me looking for a video I saw on youtube showing Cortinas going fast on long sweepers on 3 wheels but I can’t find it now. Of course today you definitely would want all 4 wheels on the ground, but back then if it worked, it worked.

This history mentions the inside-front-wheel-in-the-air cornering, plus some history on early wins with Jim Clark and Jacky Stewart, including some giant-killer performances against much larger, more powerful cars:

You left out the most important piece of information we readers would most like to know. What did it sell for?

I’ll let Andy decide if he wants to divulge that information.
