Success Story: Mercedes Received Over 100 Inquiries!
We featured this Mercedes 350SD on Thursday of last week and it was sold and picked up by Sunday. That was quick! Al received over 100 inquiries so some of you may not have heard back from him, but it did sell to one of the first people who messaged him. Here’s what Al had to say about the experience:
It has sold! After a whirlwind of texts and emails, I sold it Saturday evening and the hauler arrived on Sunday evening to take the car to Chicago! I received a text on Monday indicating that he was very excited and extremely pleased! Thank you Barn Finds! I know what to do now and have some other vehicles to list with you! Again, thank you! A very satisfied customer, Al.
Thanks Al! If any of you have a car that you are thinking about selling, please consider listing it here on Barn Finds!

This was such a deal. Good luck to the new owner.
That was a screaming deal…don’t know how I missed that but even with shipping to the Rockies it would have been well worth the ask. Hope with all the interest he got over asking on it!
Yep, that was the deal of the week. Miles were not too high and the car looked to be in good condition. They under priced the car which is why it sold so fast. That was the last year of the classic body style from 81 to 91 and the 350SD was much improved over the 300SD. It would have been even better if it was the long wheelbase SDL. Unless there was something wrong with the car that we did not know about, 1800 was a gift. Those Turbo Diesels in very good condition can still top 5000 today. People still want them.
That qualifies for top 10 best buys,, those things are bulletproof.
I’m sure there was many more interested than applied..price might have been a huge factor? If there are more like this another 100 plus will be chasing it, I knew I’d have no chance at this beauty..one of the most beautiful sedans I’ve ever seen..just a day too late
Or maybe hours who knows someone will grinning ear to ear for a long time..
Thanks for all you do
I was one of the 100. Have the cash, but not fast enough on the click. Congrats to the new owner!
Beautiful car but surprised no one mentioned the engine in the 90 & 91 350SD/350SDL was the worst diesel engine MB ever put in one of their cars. It had head gasket problems and was known for throwing rods. Low cylinder compression often caused idling issues. My local MB dealer would not sell used ones in the mid 90s because of these issues. Hopefully, the engine in this one has been rebuilt of replaced.
The buyer of the car put it on Craigslist and resold it… :(
I saw the ad, but do you know if it actually sold?
Yes, I believe so.
