This 2003 Ford F-150 SVT Lightning pickup is an incredible survivor, likely one of the lowest mileage examples to come up for grabs in recent memory. The seller lists the mileage as being as mere 17,900, and it’s in completely stock condition. This generation of the Lightning was an awesome return to form for Ford which has been known for building a muscle truck or two, and the Oxford White paint is an added bonus considering how many of these left the factory in red or black. The seller reports that it still presents like-new, and shows pictures of details like the original chalk marks still visible on the frame. I love this era of the Lightning, as it returned with a vengeance after the first generation model’s extended hiatus from the marketplace. The Lightning came equipped with a raucous supercharged V8 and lowered suspension, along with unique bucket seats, wheels, and custom body enhancements, like a front air dam, side skirts, and rear apron behind the back wheels. The The seller’s truck looks very clean in Oxford White paint, and given many owners opted for the classic muscle car color of red, seeing one in a slightly sleepier shade is a nice change of pace. The seller claims the paint still feels new to the touch, and that it’s never been tracked or otherwise driven hard.

Everyone says that about the performance car that they’re selling, but who knows – maybe they really mean it on a truck this virgin. The carpets and upholstery are perfect, as is the dash. The Lightning got some time on the silver screen when it made a brief appearance in The Fast and the Furious as the protagonist’s shop truck that he used when working for a parts vendor; if you remember this film, I always cringe a little when he drives it into the curb when racing back to the shop. The Lightning is obviously a preferred platform for modifications and otherwise just flat-out abusing given the impressive performance it offered in stock condition, so finding one that hasn’t been abused is a bit of a challenge.

Throw in the fact that this one wears very low mileage and it’s not surprising to see bids approaching $40,000. There’s an ongoing appreciation for performance vehicles from the late 90s and early 2000s, and I’d certainly count the Lightning pickup among those cars and trucks worthy of a fair price. The visible chalk marks on the frame are as clear a sign as any that the previous owner(s) have worked hard to baby this SVT-build truck and keep it as well-preserved as possible. The challenge for the next owner will be maintaining its high state of preservation and resisting the urge to beat on it a few times per week.
