Sweet Split Window! 1964 Volkswagen Camper
Volkswagen vans continue to be very popular and definitely fit into the current retro-cool trend. When combined with the demand for campers and RV’s, you have a recipe for strong sales. This 1964 VW camper can be found here on eBay with a current bid of $14,500. The seller says it was imported from Canada a couple of years ago and currently resides in Dixon, Missouri. There are a few little things that need to be addressed, but you won’t believe the condition of the engine! Take a look for yourself.
The front portion of the interior looks pretty original and clean for 55 years of use. The rear portion of the van features a couch that I’m assuming converts to a bed. The seller says someone installed a Coleman heater and thermostat at some point in the past. There was also some apparent water damage that may have been caused by a roof leak or condensation. 3/4 of another camper interior is included with the sale, so between what’s here and the extra parts, hopefully, a nice, functional interior can be put together.
The engine is super-clean! The seller says it was started a few months ago but has been sitting for quite a while. The seller commented after the ad was posted that the brakes probably need to be flushed and bled. They would also recommend doing some maintenance items to the engine before driving it a lot.
There are some rust spots on the rockers on both sides. It doesn’t look like a deal-breaker, but it might be for some buyers. This will be a pretty big restoration project but could be very rewarding in the end. It seems like a decent vehicle to start with and if the new buyer has experience with woodwork and upholstery, they could make it into something pretty special. What do you make of this one?

I see a couple of rust spots but at this price it’s not to bad!! All things considered I don’t know what’s crazier the 1st gen Bronco market or the VW bus market!!!
What he said.
I own one just like this in the same colors – it’s totally rust free and it cost me less than $100 when I got it. Also takes up far less space than this one

Well if from north of the border, the front floors at the doors will need a replace ,the heater tube is gone, there will be floor issues along the walls and rockers will need a re do,.motor is a 1600 duel port….. and horror of horrors no fuel line clamps,Real VW buss guys carry a fire put out tool painted red with powder inside. All the above, I want this van it is a keeper and will give many years of service Nice ride, paint her up fix her up….I know you experts say the VW style fuel line wont need clamps The gas tank is right behind the motor,so once a fire starts it pressurizes the tank and WOOF,good by van.
This won’t sell for anything close to the current bid price.
