Sweet Survivor: 1970 Dodge Charger R/T

Disclosure: This site may receive compensation from some link clicks and purchases.

This find is… well… just Plum Crazy! Having had the same owner since 1971 and having covered just 31k miles, this Charger R/T is an all-original survivor. It’s said to be in good running, driving condition and is ready for its next owner to enjoy. This Mopar can be found here on eBay in Lynnwood, Washington with a current bid of $25k and a BIN of $47k.

Under the hood is the big 440 Magnum V8. It’s the 375 horsepower 4-barrel version and is paired to a 3-speed automatic. The engine bay could use some detailing but looks to be original and in good shape. There’s no word on if there is any included documentation on the car’s history, but the seller does provide a photo of the engine stampings so that you can verify that it is the original engine.

The interior is looking just as you might expect a 50-year-old Charger too. It’s got a few flaws but is in good shape overall. A new glove box door and some new rubber floor mats would help to make it look like new again. The seller states that everything works as it should, including all the gauges. It’s optioned with the folding center armrest and C6XA vinyl buckets. As you can see though, the seats currently appear to be covered in some type of cloth or suede. The seller doesn’t mention anything about the upholstery, but it does make you wonder how original the car really is.

If this Charger really is a survivor, minus the seat upholstery that is, it seems like it would be a decent buy at the Buy-It-Now price. It definitely looks great in Plum Crazy and would really grab attention anywhere it goes. With some detailing, it could prove to be a really great car, but what do you think? Does this Mopar have all the right options to grab your attention?

C’mon Grandpa ya gotta give this one a little more credit than the gold one 🤣…I’d love to let you smash the gas on either one of my Mustangs and see the smile on your face..or the look of suprise… or like my brother and his look of fear when he drove my sn95! 😨

Sure, but could I get my walker in your car? My adult incontinent briefs bunch up sometimes and leak, so you wouldn’t want me in your car anyway. (Not to mention the drool).

I’m @ odds w/ the car based on lack of history. If I was the owner from ’71 I’d certainly include some history & stories on the cars life.
Why do the rear end/differential & the front sub-frame, cross member, whatever, look to be covered in grime, while the rest of the car looks pretty damn good & clean?
I personally think someone spent a great deal of time meticulously detailing most everything they could get to top to bottom.
If in fact original, being a PNW car, this would have almost certainly been only cruised on dry days & otherwise stored for the remainder in a semi-climate controlled environment. I was born the year the 2nd owner acquired the car & have lived not far from where this car is located most all of my life, so I’m quite familiar w/ the NW weather. I can tell you that not even I have held up to the climate as well as this car supposedly has. 😁
My only other question to authenticity (other than seat upholstery) is the plum crazy paint over spray on the “loops” of the rear springs. I know production/finish details would have been a bit more crude when this car was built, but unless my statement above about dry drives & ideal storage is correct, I struggle to see that characteristic lasting this long?

I dreamed of this car, well almost this car. The automatic kills it for me. It’s like falling in love with a beautiful girl but you find she has a awful nasty personality. Good from afar but far from good. A factory 4 speed might have made this a six figure car.

Interesting to see an R/T without the stripe on the back end. Looks odd, but Dodge would let a person get whatever options they wanted, thus so many 1 of 1, 1 of 115, etc.
