Sports Car Collection for Sale!

Disclosure: This site may receive compensation from some link clicks and purchases.

We see listings for collections come up for sale every now and again, and it’s always fascinating to see what collectors have hidden in their outbuildings and garages. This listing for an assortment of sports cars appears to be a mixture of muscle and import models, and I suspect the seller is a cross between a dealer and a private collection. In the photo here, you can see a variety of Triumph roadsters, Corvettes, and a Porsche 914, offering a sense of just how much variety the listing here on Facebook Marketplace offers potential buyers.

Thanks to Barn Finds reader Jim A. for the find. The seller doesn’t offer any details. so it’s up to us to assess what’s up for grabs. There’s your usual garden variety MGBs which aren’t worth a whole lot but can certainly offer a cost-effective entry into the car hobby. There appears to be a MGA roadster next to a chrome bumper MGB, and more intriguing is what’s under the car covers in this photo. To the right of the MGA is another roadster, but I’m going to kick it to the readers to identify (via the comments) what’s under there. The same goes for the cars in the back right corner: what do you see? Is that a large rear wing on the covered car to the left?

The seller clearly has an affinity for C3 Corvettes, and it’s an interesting paradox to see the humble British roadsters on one side of the building with an array of perhaps the most recognizable of Corvette models. The seller’s website indicates they specialize in consigning vehicles on behalf of customers, so we don’t know if these vehicles are all owned by on person or multiple. Interestingly, there are multiple cars in various states of disassembly, which would seem far more likely to belong to one caretaker. The seller’s website shows at least one of these Corvettes in an entry from 2017, which is that of the Pace Car we see in the back.

Here’s a shot of the car in broad daylight, which is said to have 102,000 miles – not exactly a time-warp specimen like so many others. The asking price is $12,000, but again, these cars were entered into the seller’s website more than 5 years ago, so I’m sure the numbers have shifted a bit. The car I’m most interested in is the white 914, as that looks like a reasonably tidy example. I also love the actual space the cars are in, as it seems surprisingly large once you’re inside – and from the outside, it’s totally nondescript. My kind of place! With an entire collection up for grabs, which car are you making an offer on?

If I may quote the awesome Emerson, Lake, and Palmer,,”welcome back my friends to the show that never ends’ an entirely different meaning we won’t go into here, but here’s another in the long line of collection sell offs. I’d say something for anyone here, turn the page,I suppose,
disclaimer: in case anyone has noticed, a lot of reference to music, and rightly so. It was, and still is, the best music ever. Heck, it was gratifying to say the least, my daughter and SIL are going to see THE ROLLING STONES!!! I said, the audience will be all asleep. I told my kids, on my deathbed, I want Lynyrd Skynyrd over headphones on “wuh-oh” volume,,,

The Stones should get Red Bull as their sponsor so us old ones can stay awake during the concert.

I went to see THE WHO during their 50th anniversary tour, in Columbus, Ohio. No one was asleep in the venue that night! Never understood people’s fascination with the R.S. , are they a band or a media creation?

I’d like to know what the orange car by the 914 is. The car under cover next to the MGA looks like a Shelby Cobra.

The 914 caught my attention. I bought mine in 1983 from owner that said it had never been in rain or snow. Drove the 74 HP 1.8 liter engine for 3 months. Installed a reverse rotation 140 HP Corsa engine and enjoyed until about 2002. Bought a crate SBC and built it to 400 HP. Using a remote electric water pump was able to install it with a custom cooling system. Took it to the 1/8-mile drags. Was so stunned by the acceleration I let up before the checker flag! Amazing what 400 HP/2400# car can do. At my age getting a bit difficult to get in and out of so plan to sell it this summer. I will let Barnfinds.com feature it.

The Orange car with the “44” on it is a Triumph Spitfire. It’s between a rubber bumper MGB and a TR6. Fun cars maybe (when they run) but not particularly valuable. The number 44 is perhaps a reference to Bob Tulias’ racing team. Nothing here remotely like a Cobra, replica or otherwise.

The 44 car is not orange. That is the worst yellow in existance.

So, what is the covered car? Now that I’m not looking at through the bottom of a whiskey glass it does sorta match the MGA beside it.

I don’t think that is a wing on the covered car. I believe that the rear of the car is facing us and the “wing” is actually a part leaning against the door. Maybe a door.

Could be wrong, but I’m pretty sure the car next to the MGA is another C3 Corvette convertible. Look at the left front fender lines.

The car in front of it doesn’t have a wing based on the fact that we seem to be looking at the rear of the car; the window facing us makes no sense as a windshield. I think that’s something leaning against the wall; possibly a car door and we’re seeing the window frame. Based on its size compared to the MGB next to it, my first guess would be a Lotus Europa.

Very little to go on with the covered car to its right. Looks rather cab forward in design, but that could be another convertible with no top faking the lines out. Going on apparent size and blind faith, I’d wonder if it’s another Lotus, possibly an Elan.

All in all, this barely qualifies as an attempt to sell these cars.

I’m a Triumph guy, but I think that MG Roadster next to the Blue Chrome Bumper MGB, might be a rare Twin Cam?

Very different car from the usual MGA. Much closer to their LeMans cars in more than just body work, 4 wheel disks, Dunlop knock off wheels, etc.

And somewhat rare. In the MG world there’s the joke about the two happiest days of a Twin-Cam owner – the day he bought it and the day he sold it. Even rarer are the MGA Deluxe models, an MGA with a Twin-Cam body and a “regular” MGA engine.

Can anyone inform me why anyone would list a ride, or rides, on Facebook?
It seems this excluded a LOT of folks who would interested.

    Thanks!

I’d say next to the MGA under the cover is a T series MG and in fro t of it undercover possibly a Triumph Stag

From the wheel flair under the tarp, I’d say it is the Corvette..
