Project ‘Pala: 1964 Chevrolet Impala

Disclosure: This site may receive compensation from some link clicks and purchases.

It appears that this 1964 Chevrolet Impala may have been in and out of storage a number of times during its life. The seller has decided that it’s time that it moved on to someone who is willing to restore it. You will find it listed for sale here on Craigslist. Located in Lowell, Michigan, it is listed with a clean title. The seller has set a price of $10,000 for this beauty but may consider a partial trade and cash for the right car.

We’re very limited in the photos and information that come with this listing, but most of the important information seems to be present. The car went into storage in 2015, and the seller states that the body is basically straight and has little rust, and that the frame and suspension are clean. It would be interesting to undertake a personal inspection to determine how accurate this is.

The interior is complete, but the seller does state that it is old and smelly. We don’t have much to go on from this one shot of the interior, but it does appear that the rear seat may be in pretty fair condition. There is no telling what condition the front seat is in, but I think that it would be wise to bank on the interior requiring a pretty major re-trim. I’m also unsure whether the interior smell is just old age, or whether it is the result of rodent infestation.

Under the hood is the 283ci V8 backed by the 2-speed Powerglide transmission. This apparently ran in the Summer of 2015, which I would assume was the last time this Impala saw the road. From what is said in the ad it appears that the car does run, and that the drive-train is basically original. It may only require a good dose of basic maintenance to return it to the road.

This 1964 Impala has the makings of a really nice car. If it is solid and has little rust it could make a good project car. It would take a personal inspection to determine this as the information in the ad is a little bit sketchy. Would you take this one on?

10K for the ’64. Should’ve known that wasn’t going to last long.

Probably because somebody told the seller “ARE YOU NUTS? DO YOU KNOW WHAT THAT CAR IS WORTH? PUT IT ON EBAY!”

Exactly!! I think it will be back…unless there is some fraud involved. We’ve seen shady deals here before. Why would someone take pics at night? Doesn’t show the car very well at all.

I noticed that it does not have the correct H3 headlights. It has those headlights that you want to be behind, and not in front of.

If that car is worth more than $10K on Ebay. I’ll eat it. A friend just walked in and I asked him what he thought it was worth and replied I would not give $5000.00 and he is one of the best in mechanics. He thought it would take $20K just to make it a nice car as it came from the factory. I sold my prime ’64 yellow Impala Super 4 years ago for $15k. In Eugene OR my guess is this car would bring about $2500.00 to $3500.00. if this is worth $10K then mine was worth $50K
