Project Potential: 1967 Chevrolet C10 Short Bed
Some classic vehicles are purchased for what they are, others are purchased for what they could be. I think this 1967 Chevrolet C10 pickup falls into the latter category. While it will certainly be a big project for someone, if you squint your eyes hard enough, you can see a ton of potential. It can be found here on eBay with a current bid of $4,000. Located in Cincinnati, Ohio, if this was a long box in the same condition, it would only be worth a fraction of the price. But, since this is a factory short bed, it will automatically command a premium price. After all, short boxes are so popular, that there are companies that make kits to transform your 8-footer into a 6-footer. Take a look at this project and see what you think.
There isn’t a lot of information in the ad regarding the history of the truck. The seller says it was just pulled from a barn, but unfortunately, there are no photos of said barn. You can see aftermarket gauges mounted under the dash and obviously the seat upholstery will need to be addressed. Other than that, the interior looks pretty usable as-is.
The engine is a straight-six. The ad says after the truck was pulled from the barn, they put fresh fuel in the tank, put oil down the cylinders, put in a fresh battery, cleaned the points, and the truck fired right up!
While 67-72 Chevy pickups have been built and customized in almost every conceivable configuration, a well-done build can still be a show-stopper. There are dozens of companies that support these trucks with aftermarket parts. Hopefully, this truck gets a chance at a new life.

This body style is a favorite for sure. A “partially-rusty body” with no inside floorboard or underside pictures leaves a lot to speculate on without an in person inspection or PPI. That is not a perfect stance. Some of my hotrods were not jacked up that high in the rear even with Gabriel HiJackers Air Shocks. That front seat gives new meaning to sitting on springs. As a side note, the best money I ever spent was $500 for a PPI which was a real education for me. I learned that even though it was a lifelong CA car, there are certain parts of CA like the San Fran area where cars that are exposed to the elements for many years by being left parked outside are anything but rust free. That PPI saved me tens of thousands of dollars and the inspector pointed out things about that car that I most likely would have still missed looking at it due to my eagerness to own it.
A very sought after truck and this one is a blank canvas. You could make it anything you want with enough money. I helped a friend buy one a couple of months ago. He didn’t want a project, he wanted a nice truck that he could dive and make minor improvements. Once he realized the market for a nice C-10 in that condition is about 30 K. No problem , he got a nice truck, 29 thousand dollars.
This truck could be the truck of your dreams ,if your dream has an ATM card in it ,with unlimited access to as much cash as you need.
If I had the room I would be all over this. It’s a good project and fits my needs. I have no place to put it. More space in negotiations……..
My dad bought a new 67 Chevy truck had no heater salesman told him they had to put a heater in for 1967 heaters were standard equip
