The seller’s photos of this 1922 Ford Model T Speedster revealed it to be a promising project car. It is largely complete, and its body looks to be free of any rust problems. It isn’t clear how long the Speedster has been sitting in its current location, but I suspect it has been many years. The time has come for it to find a new home and for somebody to return it to its former glory. Therefore, the owner has listed it for sale here on Facebook. It is located in Bloomfield, New Jersey, and the owner has set the sale price at $6,500.

This Speedster is a great old vehicle, and it has the makings of a very satisfying project build. Its body appears to be original, with no reproduction or fiberglass panels. There is no evidence of penetrating rust, although I can spot plenty of surface corrosion. The buyer will probably choose to tackle this as a nut-and-bolt restoration project, but the simplicity of these classics means that it would be a great car to tackle in a home workshop. It appears that the frame is there for the soft-top, but the buyer will need to source a top. It is a similar story with the windshield. The frame is present, but there is no glass. The original wood-spoked wheels are also present, but they will need to be inspected to ensure that they are solid and safe before this classic hits the road once again. The seller supplies no clear photos of the interior, but we can see that there are no dash and gauges, and the upholstered surfaces would benefit from a restoration. Once again, this is an aspect of the Model T that is easy to work with, and restoring an interior like this can be satisfying.

It appears that the drivetrain for this Ford is as it left the production line. That means that the engine bay is occupied by a 177ci flathead four-cylinder engine, which is backed by a two-speed planetary transmission. This engine should produce 22hp, which was enough to keep most buyers satisfied in 1922. It isn’t clear when this classic last fire shot in anger, but I suspect it wasn’t very recently. The owner says that the engine turns freely, but the vehicle does not run. However, given the bulletproof nature of these flathead fours, it might not take a lot of work to coax it back to life. If that’s the case, getting this old girl back onto the road may be an easy task for the buyer to tackle.

A surprising number still survived today, and when you look at this vehicle’s overall condition, it is hard to believe that it is mere weeks away from celebrating its 100th birthday.
