No Reserve Luxury: 1985 Cadillac Eldorado Biarritz
The 1985 Cadillac Eldorado offered plenty of elite luxury and style in pure basic form, but adding the Biarritz package provided even more bling for the truly top-tier buyers, with one of the most noticeable features being the stainless steel covering the roof plus some additional extra trim here and there. This 1985 Cadillac Eldorado Biarritz is in Portland, Oregon, and is said to have been a single-family-owned car with only 55k total miles traveled. The Caddy can be spotted here on eBay, where the no-reserve auction is currently resting at $2,559.
This one’s certainly not perfect, with probably the most notable issue up front involving the plastic pieces behind the front bumper. I’m guessing either a failed attempt to remove and replace them or a light bumper tap into something may have caused these to become dislodged, but the seller says an 11-piece set of body fillers is included with the sale which hopefully contains the 2 pieces needed to make the repairs, along with the plastic necessary to get the areas surrounding the rear bumper looking satisfactory again as well.
Also on the front end are a couple of components definitely not from the factory, or 5 in total if you count those funky headlight covers individually instead of as a set, and that massive grille and chrome topper are add-ons as well. Hopefully, all of this can be put back to normal in an afternoon with no remnants if it’s not to the next owner’s liking.
Generally, I appreciate high levels of exterior trim on a car, but with all the lower body pieces covering the sheet metal and extending the entire length of the car, it’s hard to ascertain if there’s any corrosion hiding underneath them. But the seller confirms the only rust anywhere is confined to one of the doors, and that it’s only on the surface and hasn’t spread elsewhere. He also compliments the panels and how straight and dent-free they have remained over the last nearly four decades.
A glance inside shows a nicely preserved red carpet and mostly digital gauges that are all stated as functional, but the dash is cracking and there’s some wear on those white leather seats and some of the door side panels. One nice feature is this one’s equipped with a sunroof, which is said to be operating properly with no leaks, and all of the power accessories such as the seats and windows are also mentioned as working correctly.
I’ve never driven a 4.1-liter V8-powered Eldorado, but these were only rated as having 135 horsepower which doesn’t sound very inspiring, although the seller mentions that the engine runs incredibly smoothly and I’d rather find a gas-burning anything under the hood here rather than the optional diesel that was also available. My thought here is if the next owner can live with the interior blunders and get the exterior plastic fillers swapped out, as long as the ending price isn’t too high this one might make a pretty decent driver without a whole lot of extra expense, at least not right away provided the 55k mileage reading is indeed accurate. What’s a reasonable price to pay for this 1985 Cadillac Eldorado Biarritz?

I would call that sunroof a liability rather than a plus. Especially on a car this age. One of the redeeming features on this gen Eldorado, in my opinion, was the tasteful grille/front end. Thats been replaced with a Huggy-Bear looking piece from a gawdier time. Yikes! But those headlights really add to the busy look while also giving it an 80s Towncar appearance.

Those seats say “155k miles” at least, not 55k. Fairly nice car all around though, even if the 4.1 was a pretty gutless mill.

“fergidid”. Wacko pricing. Didnt know that there were 4 either (”I god’em bof”
he posted back). This 1 needs the long center section above the rear bumper and a sun faded center § to the steer wheel or the proper oem color too.

The 4.1 was a very poor engine. It often went south with only 40,000 t0 50,000 miles. When I was a dealer I sold several DeVilles but I bought them with bad 4.1 engines and replaced them with a 4.5 or a 4.9 which would bolt right in. Then you had a smooth, comfortable and reliable car.
I personally have doubts about the mileage, the seats are to worn out to only have 55k miles, just my opinion, and those headlights have to go.
