No Reserve: 1978 Ford F250 Ranger Supercab
This stunning 1978 Ford F250 Ranger 4×4 features enough subtle custom touches to provide a muscular and purposeful appearance. Its presentation is hard to fault, and the V8 nestled under the hood should allow this classic to crawl into inaccessible locations or function as an effective tow vehicle. It carries the hallmarks of a commercial vehicle that has been treated respectfully, and its most pressing need is a new home. The F250 is listed here on eBay in Caldwell, Idaho. Bidding has scorched to $26,301 in a No Reserve auction.
This F250 makes quite an impression when viewed as a total package. Its Dark Jade paint shines beautifully and is complimented by the custom Detroit steel wheels and upgraded LED headlamps. The overall first impression is positive, with the panels and paint looking flawless. An in-person inspection will probably unearth imperfections, but I can’t spot anything requiring immediate attention. This classic’s beauty is more than skin deep, with the underside shots confirming this Pickup is rust-free. The bed is spotless, while the chrome and glass are as impressive as the rest of the exterior.
The positive vibes continue inside this F250, with the interior in almost perfect condition. The upholstered surfaces are free from wear and physical damage, and the carpet looks new. The only fault I can spot is a couple of cracks in the wheel, but a wrap would soon hide that problem. The dash and pad haven’t succumbed to the sun, and the faux woodgrain is in exceptional condition for its age. A pair of jump seats hide in the cab’s rear, and although these are realistically a children-only proposition, they add an extra level of versatility. The original owner’s decision to specify air conditioning would make life on the road more pleasant, and the retro-style stereo is the only visible aftermarket addition. I usually prefer originality, but I would accept that change in light of the exterior upgrades.
This Ford’s mechanical configuration promises a lot, both on and off-road. The engine bay houses a 460ci V8, with shifting duties falling to a three-speed automatic transmission. A dual-range transfer case takes care of its off-road capabilities, while power assistance for the steering and front disc brakes guarantees an effortless driving experience. The 460 produces 239hp, and with most of its torque occurring low in the rev range, this beauty should crawl effortlessly over pretty inhospitable ground. The upgraded Cooper tires help its cause, as does the heavy-duty suspension and steering stabilizer shock. Potential buyers should consider this F250 a turnkey proposition because it runs and drives beautifully. If you want to fly in and drive it home, that option appears viable.
Do you fancy the idea of parking this 1978 Ford F250 Ranger 4×4 in your garage? If you do, you need to beat out the nine individuals who have submitted an incredible fifty-two bids at the time of writing. The action is understandable because this classic has much to offer its next owner. It presents beautifully and is nicely equipped, and its drivetrain provides the potential for performance and versatility. I won’t be surprised if the action intensifies before the hammer falls, and a sale price above $35,000 is possible. Would you be willing to commit to a vehicle of this type and age at that price?

Great looking truck! In my oldfashioned opinion, the factory headlight look is mlre attractive on ALL cars and trucks. Would love the wheels if they were a little smaller. More rubber is always better. Not to mention that thing will ride like a lumber wagon.
Rather a 4 speed auto or a power stroke put in it. Rims are cool. Look like tractor rims.
1978-79 F-250, my favorite Ford P/u. Real trucks. Had a ‘77 F-250 “Camper Special”, 390 4V. Dual tanks of course, 8 ft bed. Former owner had extra springs put in the back. Wish I hadn’t sold it.
That truck is seriously sharp. But that price tag…
The rims/tires would be the first to go once I got it.
This seller has been well-represented on Barn Finds of late. Apparently he takes solid trucks and does some degree of restoration on them, and then turns them loose on ebay. The trucks are typically quite attractive when finished, though not always to my tastes (for example, they usually have a lift kit plus some sort of wheel and tire package which is usually too large/aggressive for my tastes).
Seller mentions 1 of 148 in the ad, per Marti report. But doesn’t mention 1 of 148 of what, and doesn’t include the report itself.
Confused, It has an A/C compressor on it but the dash control is non A/C ??? Really nice truck though! Had a 77High Boy years ago, same color.
Probably has a vintage air setup. Or could have been dealer installed A/C.
It’s got the old-school York/York-style compressor on it so not a Vintage Air setup. Most likely a dealer-installed setup per my comment above.
You can see the vents with the controls to the right of the climate control panel – that indicates a period aftermarket/dealer installed setup to me.
A very clean F250,the price is going a little too high.239hp from the 460 is a little weak.my 72 f250 3904v” hi po”was making over 330hp and 420ftlbs of torque and with a 4.10 dana 60 out back.this truck gets the same mpg,single digits….
Absolutely gorgeous truck. Love the color. I don’t have to worry about the price cause I can’t afford it either way so I can just love it. I would love to bring that Ford to some shows and shoot the breeze with other folks. That would be fun.
as mentioned, my fav looking vehicle -73/9 F250 (I like the AH, Ambassador grill’n lights, the alpha & TD, but…) needs the short box, step side tho (4WD). The extended cab may help w/the 1 reason I dont own a 6th gen, I feel like I’m sitting at my kitchen table (body all in right angels esp ankle/knee).
Like the others – “drop the custom wheels”. I also prefer the i6 (4.9 & efi from a similar ’96) in the off rder. My B swap in the 5 speed too: in NV4600 or ZF’s S42 / 47 (all 3 w/2 PTOs).
W/this y/m/m we see the merican auto maker begin the lux0truck we have today – more chrome, more options so that a real truck (light duty) today hasa entry point of 50K$. I bought a house for that in the early ’70s. Thnx ford-has-a-better-idea (to make $) even said ‘we will no longer make sedans/coups”.
badd a$$!
