It happens all the time, with novice car fans all the way to seasoned Hot Rod shop owners, when that special car comes along that you just have to buy for your forever collection, which is what was intended in the case of this 1972 Chevrolet Corvette.  A rod shop proprietor in The Golden State purchased the car intending for it to be by his side for the rest of his life, and though we’re not given the details, life happened, and now the ‘Vette is looking for a new til death do us part home.  The Stingray is located in Roseville, California, and can be spotted here on eBay with bidding currently resting at $16,900.

We don’t get a whole lot of information about the car’s past, such as whether or not it’s been in Cali all of its days or how many previous owners have called it theirs, but the seller has provided us with some good photos that seem to show an overall well cared for 50-year-old automobile.  The car is said to exhibit some paint scars and imperfections, and no word on whether or not that Elkhart Green finish is original, although for a driver it still looks pretty good.  There are a couple of gaps near the front that seem a shade off, but overall the body seems to be in decent shape.

The current owner has already replaced quite a few engine parts, including the timing chain, coil, plugs, and plug wires.  He’s also added a Pertronix distributor plus an Edelbrock intake and carb.  We do get a photo from the bottom side of the Corvette, with things down below appearing to be in good order as well.  Quite a bit of attention has also been given to the brakes and some of the front-end components have also been replaced, along with a new exhaust system.  No mention of whether or not the automatic transmission has had any recent refreshing.

There are not anything specific details given about the interior, other than the rear window is removable and the car has T-Tops, standard equipment back in ’72.  But everything in there seems to be in reasonably good shape, with the only obvious modification being an aftermarket Stereo in the dash.  It plays cassettes, so this was probably changed out a long time ago!  A couple of things that do still need to be addressed are the heater and headlight vacuum pump, but generally, this one seems like a lot of the more important issues have already been addressed.  I’m kind of liking this one, how about you?
