Nicest One Left? 1937 Lincoln Model K
As a father and son, it is doubtful that two men could have been more opposite than Henry Ford and his son, Edsel. While both believed in solid and bullet-proof engineering, Henry perceived his cars as being nothing more or less than an affordable way to put the American public on wheels. Edsel had a far more refined sense of style, and it seems only fitting that he liked nothing better than to retreat from his father to his beloved Lincoln factory. There, he was free to work with the designers and engineers to create some of the best and most beautiful cars that America had ever seen. One of these labors of love was the Lincoln Model K, and this exquisite example of that model is now being offered for sale. It is located in Largo, Florida, and has been listed for sale here on eBay. Bidding on the Lincoln has reached $24,500 in what is a No Reserve auction.
Finished in Zephyr Blue, the presentation of the Lincoln is extremely impressive. The car has been stored indoors for the past 80-years, and this is evident when you consider the fact that the car is free of any rust issues. The owner says that the underside is clean, while there are no signs of any external rust. The paint has a remarkable depth of color and shine to it, while the external trim and chrome appear to be close to perfect. The Model K had been in production since 1931, and for the 1937 model year, it did receive some significant styling changes. The body lines were more swooping than previous examples, the trunk had a more integrated look to it, but the most obvious changes was the integration of the headlights into the front fenders.
Owning a Lincoln of this era was all about living life in the lap of luxury, and this car doesn’t disappoint in that respect. The interior has undergone a full restoration that left no change from an eye-watering $20,000. The tan wool upholstery really is flawless, with not a mark to be seen anywhere. The timber trim has a smooth satin finish to it, while the dash looks perfect. The carpet doesn’t have a mark on it, while all of the interior chrome trim appears to be free of any bubbling or corrosion. The faultless presentation continues into the trunk, where the light-colored carpet would be inclined to show any form of misuse.
The Model K is not a light car, and even though it packs a V12 under the hood, it isn’t a car that was renowned for rapid acceleration, either. The 414ci giant only produces 150hp, but they are, for the period, very smooth horses. The power is sent to the rear wheels via a 3-speed manual transmission. The good news with this Lincoln continues as we check its mechanical health. The entire drive-train has undergone a refurbishment, and the owner says that the car runs and drives flawlessly. Interestingly, even though the Model K was a heavy car without an abundance of power, it is still a car that was capable of giving the 100mph barrier a serious nudge.
The owner of this Lincoln Model K claims that it is one of the cleanest examples in existence, and he may well be right with that claim. Everywhere you look, the presentation is just stunning. The fact that it is being offered in a No Reserve auction makes it a very tempting proposition, and it will be interesting to see whether any of our readers are inspired enough to bid on this beautiful classic.

Really beautiful motor car. I hope the new owner treats it with the respect that it deserves.
Wow, what a beautiful car. The lines are so amazing.
Craftsmanship of this era will never be seen again and that is so sad.
May the next owner appreciate this piece of art as much as the current owner.
A stunning car, indeed! Edsel Ford was at the top of his game in the 1930s. He developed a luxury brand as good as any at the time. This Lincoln should bring a good final bid, it’s a beauty.
FordGuy1972 you are spot on. Too bad Henry didn’t see Edsel the way we do. I really believe Henry was the cause of Edsel’s early death.
I really can’t say more than the others have. It’s an absolutely Great looking car that hopefully will be appreciated and driven like it should.
This is an amazing car, and if the owner has the paper work to back up the work it should be selling for at least $60k. With that interior you’d want covers on the seats before you let anyone ride in it, I’d have picked a darker colour. Nice find
If I had the cash I would drive down to Largo and bring this home. She would be so happy living in my air conditioned garage. What a beauty. I am green with envy of the new owner.
This beautiful, beautifully engineered car is one of the many reasons that I am so very proud to be an American. While Stalin was murdering 10’s of thousands of people in his purges and his people were starving through mismanagement, America, in the middle of a depression, was producing, not 1 but 1000’s of Lincoln Model K’s, a hallmark in design and engineering.
What more can I say?
The car is a sight to behold for sure!
Beautiful car.
All the above are so eloquent..yes if I too had the money..
Old Henry was a bit of an old “B” especially to Edsel…
